The Sharon L. Hostler Child Development Center serves as a home away from home for many of our loyal UVA families. Our center consists of ten classrooms, each with a set of creative, supportive teachers that promise to nurture children's growth from Infancy to Pre-K. Our classrooms are known for their unique environments, their developmentally appropriate weekly lessons, & the health & safety practices implemented daily. Each of our educators recognize the importance of the early years & promise to provide your family the continuity of care you deserve. Our team at Sharon L. Our son was enrolled here for the first time over the summer, and we also used the facility through my employer’s backup care program. The center is clean, calm, with wonderful teachers and caregivers. Our son was in Ms. Robin’s class, and we couldn’t have been happier — he learned so much, made many friends in a short time, and adapted to the new environment remarkably quickly. They provide nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day with a nice variety, and the kids enjoy plenty of outdoor time. Although the main playground is currently under construction due to nearby development, the team has arranged a temporary play area that still allows for outdoor activities. Overall, we’ve had an excellent experience and would strongly recommend this Bright Horizons location to families looking for an easy, positive transition. We definitely plan to re-enroll our son next summer and continue using this center for backup care when needed.

She quickly.gpt.into the routine and loved seeing her friends and playing everyday. They did a geat job getting her potty training. I felt confident she was in good hands.

We are one of the first families to start at Democracy Center and we have never once had a complaint. We are seeing the work of all of his teachers in how well our son has grown, socially, emotionally, and developmentally. The teachers are wonderful, kind and display an advanced understanding of childhood development strategies and theories. The staff is kind and professional, and most importantly they care about the kids -- it shows and it’s wonderful! They have handled the year of Covid like champs, and as working parents, we cannot thank them enough for how well they have handled this difficult time. There is always outreach to us parents, they want us involved with what our children are doing in class, and their feedback is priceless in supporting what happens in our home. Most importantly our son loves going to Bright Horizons at Democracy Center -- he loves his friends and teachers! We love hearing his stories about his day, and to us his enjoyment and growth at Bright Horizons at Democracy Center is the best recommendation for this wonderful day-care center!
