⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Truly Compassionate and Professional Experience
This review is a bit late, but I wanted to take a moment to share our experience with Greenwood Funeral Home from my dad’s service back in January 2025. His passing was completely unexpected, and my sister and I were both very new to the process of making funeral arrangements. We honestly didn’t even know where to start.
From the very first email we sent, while we were still at the hospital, Sylvia was incredibly quick to respond. She was professional, compassionate, and went above and beyond to explain every detail we needed to know. She guided us through the process step by step, helping us make decisions that honored our dad while also being mindful of our budget.
When we finally met Sylvia in person, it truly felt like we were meeting with a friend we had known for years. She’s so down-to-earth and genuinely cares about the families she helps. It was as if she could anticipate what we needed before we even asked. She had thoughtful answers ready and seemed to intuitively understand what we wanted for our dad. You can tell she’s experienced, but also that she leads with heart in everything she does.
The night of my dad’s visitation was overwhelming in the best way. We had one of the largest crowds the funeral home had seen in a while. Despite that, Sylvia managed everything with incredible professionalism and grace. Her assistant, Mary, was just as amazing. She was on top of everything the entire time and treated our family and every guest with such kindness and compassion. Somehow, everything ran smoothly, no one complained about waiting, and both Sylvia and Mary still took the time to check in on us to make sure we were doing okay.
Even after the services were complete and the payments were handled, Sylvia’s support didn’t stop there. She continued to follow up with us, answering questions promptly and helping with anything she could. That kind of care is rare and meant so much to our family.
We truly cannot thank Sylvia and her assistant Mary enough for giving us peace of mind during one of the hardest times in our lives. Knowing that our dad was laid to rest with such dignity and care brought us comfort that we’ll never forget.

Recently I had the need for the services of both funeral home and cementary and this does present many emotions and feelings.
Please know this funeral home will do all they can to assist and accommodate you.
Ms Raquel Duarte did a great job, providing all information, responding to all questions and efficiently resolved any issues with courtesy and caring to meet my needs.
The cemetary was most efficient and offered great value to meet anyone's needs.
I want to thank all staff and Ms Duarte on behalf of myself and my family.

Greenwood Funeral Home-Exceptional Care and Compassion
From start to finish, Evelyn at Greenwood Funeral Home went above and beyond to make my mother’s funeral truly special. Her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were unmatched.
My mom was born and raised in Ireland, and Evelyn went the extra mile to honor that heritage in the most beautiful way. She arranged for a bagpiper and even coordinated with an Irish Catholic priest to lead the Mass. It was such a thoughtful and personal touch that meant the world to our family.
Losing a loved one is never easy, but Evelyn’s compassion and dedication turned a difficult day into a heartfelt celebration of my mother’s life. I can’t thank her and the Greenwood team enough for their kindness and care.

Everything was beautiful.
I think Greenwood did a wonderful job from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Peyton Borne and the staff went above and beyond and it’s what families need at such difficult times. I felt like we were treated very personally and although it’s a business, it was done with compassion and empathy.
I appreciate everything Greenwood did to ensure that things went smoothly and that my mom was taken care of from start to finish.
I’m not sure when or if the grieving will end, but laying her to rest was the least stressful part of my journey.
Thank you again for everything,
Frequently Asked Questions About Greenwood Funeral Home
Does a dead body have to be embalmed, according to law?
The Federal Trade Commission says, "Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial."
Do I have to make different funeral arrangements if I choose cremation?
It really depends entirely on how you wish to commemorate a life. One of the advantages of cremation is that it provides you with increased flexibility when you make your funeral and cemetery arrangements. You might, for example, choose to have a funeral service before the cremation; a memorial service at the time of cremation or after the cremation with the urn present; or a committal service at the final disposition of cremated remains. Funeral or memorial services can be held in a place of worship, a funeral home or in a crematory chapel.
What can be done with the cremated remains?
With cremation, your options are numerous. The cremains can be interred in a cemetery plot, i.e., earth burial, retained by a family member, usually in an urn, scattered on private property, or at a place that was significant to the deceased. (It would always be advisable to check for local regulations regarding scattering in a public place-your funeral director can help you with this.)
Today, there are many different types of memorial options from which to choose. Memorialization is a time-honored tradition that has been practiced for centuries. A memorial serves as a tribute to a life lived and provides a focal point for remembrance, as well as a record for future generations. The type of memorial you choose is a personal decision.
What is memorialization for a cremation?
You might choose ground burial of the urn. If so, you may usually choose either a bronze memorial or monument. Cremation niches in columbariums are also available at many cemeteries. They offer the beauty of a mausoleum setting with the benefits of above ground placement of remains. Many cemeteries also offer scattering gardens. This area of a cemetery offers the peacefulness of a serene garden where family and friends can come and reflect.
