Although the facility is new and nice, the organization is awful along with some of the employees. If I could give this association a 0 I would. Four examples are simply too much:
First, when my daughter was 3 we had her in swim lessons. During a lesson they had the kids sitting on the edge and I noticed the instructor would take each child one by one and circle them around. During this, the instructor would turn her back to the kids sitting on the wall for just a few seconds. Sure enough, when she turned her back, my daughter slipped off the edge. As if this wasn't bad enough, it was directly next to a life guard tower and the life guard never saw it. I dove in and pulled her off the bottom of the pool and the life guard never got off his seat. I brought the episode to the attention of the director and asked him to review the security cameras. He attempted to but then came back and said the camera footage was not there.
Second, at the recommendation of the director, I moved my son from basketball lessons to games when he was around 9. During his first game, they played a team that clearly had kids at least 13 years old. The kids on my sons team were just learning to dribble and pass whereas the other team was making multiple three pointers. The score keeper stopped keeping score when it was 50 to 0 but I kept track. The final score was 98 to 2 and the only 2 points our team scored was intentionally given to allow a girl to score a basket. Is this an example of Christian values?
Third, my kids were in summer camp and one day I went to drop them off at the back door. The previous day they forget some of the belongings and I wanted to pick them up from the lost and found. The day I dropped them off it was pouring down rain and we were already pretty wet when I got to the door. The lady opened the door and let me kids in and I asked if I could check the lost and found to get the stuff from the previous day. She said she would go check and I asked if I could step inside to get out of the rain. She said no you have to stay outside. So I stayed outside in the rain. Is that an example of Christian values?
Lastly, this is the final straw. Today I had an appointment to setup me up on the e machines. The appointment was made a few weeks ago but this morning I had one of my business clients change their schedule last minute so I could not make the YMCA appointment at 11:00. I drove up there at 10:00 to see if I could reschedule the appointment for another time or day. The older lady behind the counter informed me it would cost $26.50. Perplexed I asked '$26.50'? The lady then immediately raised her voice and replied 'Yes, sir! $26.50! It costs $26.50 to book the appointment and you have to give us 24 hours notice to cancel! So you will lose the original $26.50 and have to pay another $26.50'. I just said thank you and left.
I won't be going back. I am done. Again, I understand if these are their policies, but is this really christian behavior at the Young Men's Christian Association?
