I've attended several Mormon congregations in my life, but this is one of my favorites. Although the congregation is huge (about 300), and the building is a little old, I love the people’s devotion to serving one another (and beyond!) out of the goodness of their hearts. Much of the congregation has families, and while that adds a little to the chaos of the meetings, it also brings a sweet spirit of unity and love.
Why do I love attending here? It’s beautiful to see the children visit a nursing home and sing to them. It’s beautiful to see a widow reach out to a person who is depressed. It’s beautiful to see an experienced Boy Scout teach a younger one life saving skills. It’s beautiful to see an outreach to the poor and the needy. It’s beautiful to see Christ-like examples all around you.
Time after time, I’m amazed at how people reach out and visit one another and practice what they preach. Are we perfect? Far from it. But attending here is the closest thing I’ve seen to understanding what heaven might be like.
You’re welcome to join us! In 2017, meetings start at 9am (English) and 1pm (Spanish).
