- NGN GrantMar 22, 20251.0Tried to reach out twice after moving to Grayslake. First I tried emailing. No response. So then I called, and the "Bishop's assistant" (I thought it was strange that he didn't say he was the Ward Secretary) set up a phone meeting. I provided my membership number, phone number, and address. I never received the call back, didn't even receive a visit from the Elders. This was a VERY different experience than I had at my previous wards in Massachusetts and Washington, and it happened at a time when I really needed to be with my fellow Saints. I was recovering from my second aneurysm surgery, was new to Grayslake, and was raising my Autistic 3-year-old alone. All I wanted was for someone to arrange a temporary carpool for me until I was fully healed and was able to get to church myself. That's all I needed, just help getting to Sunday meetings. And that's what I told the "Bishop's assistant." I finally gave up and am now attending a different church. It's been two years at this point, so I'm unlikely to return as my endowment has long since expired and my son is firmly planted in our current church.
