- DPDiane POct 21, 20255.0The Vi at the Glen in Glenview, Illinois is a wonderful place to live! I looked at several senior living communities around Chicago when I was considering this move and this one really stood out for its beauty, integrated setting in the community, thoughtful exterior and interior design, and all the amenities it offers. I knew I only wanted to move once more in my life and have everything I might need be available there for the future. Ended up moving here to the Vi in August 2025 and it is even better than expected. I love the strong sense of community it provides with other residents, who have been incredibly welcoming and friendly. And the Vi's Staff are amazing! By Day 2 they all somehow knew my name and were proactively ready to help in any way they could. The facilities and grounds here are beautiful and very well-maintained. There is a wide variety of beautiful and spacious 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and villas to choose from with some that also include a roomy den. And every apartment or villa offers either an outdoor patio or balcony. With all the programs, interest groups, and exercise offerings, there are always things to get involved in. And I appreciate their 24 hour onsite valet parking and concierge services, expert computer/IT help, onsite Wellness Center, pool, exercise facilities, salon and spa. They also have an outstanding, highly rated Care Center that provides higher levels of care and compassion for those needing Assisted Living, Memory Care, or Skilled Nursing care if and when anyone needs it. And let me also call out the outstanding food served in their dining rooms (including a choice of 4 different venues). They do a great job with their culinary programs. Living here at the Vi has taken away all the stressors in my old life and provided more access to those things that bring me joy! No more worries or expenses of maintaining a house and yard and wishing for easier ways to meet people and engage in activities. It's all right here with a wide variety of choices every day. And we can still maintain all our outside friendships and favorite activities too. If you are considering such a move, you should visit the Vi. You will be amazed!
- JEJim EggersApr 28, 20235.0My wife and I have been residents for 5 years.Our 5 Star rating is because of: 1) staffing and prompt response to any inquiry we ever make and quick resolution of the subject of the inquiry; 2) dining including menu, service, staffing and choice of menu. Frequent change of entres and courtesy and capabilities of staff are added pluses. 3) maintenance of the WHOLE campus and the cleanness of all areas is fabulous.
- FNFlorence NelsonDec 31, 20205.0Regardless of the fact our activities are limited due to the pandemic and fear of passing the virus onto others, the Vi does remarkable work to provide virtual lectures, concerts, movies, and health-related activities to keep us moving and thinking. I feel very safe knowing the management takes careful watch of our health. We are continuously reminded to follow the health protocols that are so necessary at this time.

What is a Life Plan Community/CCRC?
A Life Plan Community, also known as a continuing care retirement community or “CCRC” offers residents a combination of housing, dining, and certain amenities and health care services in return for a monthly fee and an entrance fee. Residents do not purchase their apartments. The entrance fee and monthly fees you pay give you the right to occupy an apartment for life and cover the services you receive while residing at the community, including the care services offered at the community’s care center.

What care does Vi at The Glen offer?
There are three basic types of continuing care contracts that a CCRC may offer, commonly known as Type A, Type B, and Type C.
A Type A contract provides the most comprehensive continuing care coverage. A Type A contract generally provides for transfer to any of the community’s care venues for an unlimited time at little or no additional cost beyond the monthly fee paid while residing in independent living (including any ongoing monthly fee increases applicable to such independent living unit) and the costs of ancillary supplies and additional meals.
A Type B contract typically includes a specific number of “free” days in the community’s care venues at the monthly fee rate paid by the resident for his/her independent living apartment. When those “free” days are exhausted, the resident begins to pay a market rate for care services. With this type of contract, the resident assumes some risk in terms of paying for services at an amount in excess of the monthly fee.
A Type C (or fee-for-service) contract does not include care services at the monthly fee rate or discounted rate. Residents receive priority admission to the community care venues, but must pay the market rate for care venue services. With this type of contract, the resident assumes the highest level of risk, as charges will vary depending upon the services needed.
