We have been very happy with Randall Residence. Everyone was so patient as we got all of the documents together to get my father-in-law signed up as a resident. His apartment was spotless and had just had new carpet installed. They have been great about helping him adjust to this next stage of life - introducing him to other residents, encouraging him to participate in activities and welcoming him to the facility. We have been very happy with everything. Thanks for taking such good care of him!

My dad is a new resident there. He had previously been at Primrose. I have been delighted by the positive difference already.
The facility, staff, services and food are excellent! The transition for my dad has been smooth and welcoming. One of the practices that differentiates Randall is the use of ambassadors to help the new resident feel welcomed and to find their way to dinner and social activities.
It is a beautiful facility with a focus on quality service and care. And… all this is offered at an a reasonable cost.

We visited Randall Residence looking for memory care for my Father-In-Law at the suggestion of his neurologist who had been treating him for Alzheimer's for two years and was in the process of revoking his driving privileges. My FIL was willing to move in. We agreed to go on the waiting list that was at least a month long. Within a couple of days word came that there was an opening that we decided to take. This required an evaluation and we were pressured to do it right away so that there was time for an in person evaluation and to retrieve his medical records! If he was in before next Friday he could even avoid the price increase! My wife had to take off work with an hour's notice - it couldn't be scheduled for tomorrow. If you have ever been in the finance office of a car dealership you will have a pretty good picture of what it was like.
Anyway the "evaluation" proceeded. Over the course of about 30 minutes the nurses asked him if he needed help doing a bunch of things like bathing and taking his own medicine. He gave an unwavering no to all of these. He didn't need help doing anything. Of course my wife expressed her concern at these answers after the evaluation. The Randall nurses wanted to get records from the GP and neurologist and they would make their evaluation. My wife called the doctors' offices and prepped them to provide the records - there wasn't time to waste.
The evaluation came back in a couple days. Good news! He qualified for Independent Living! It's way cheaper! Of course this was still a concern to my wife but she was reassured by the marketing director that it would be easy to transfer to more care if it proved necessary. And again there was that price increase coming and the $1000 initiation fee doesn't need to be paid again to move to the higher levels of care.
So we moved him in. A couple days worth of confusion but he was someplace where he didn't need to drive and he liked the food and activities. My wife continued to take him to doctor appointments visiting both the GP and neurologist in the first week he lived at Randall. When asked about providing the records to Randall neither office had records or recollections of any inquiry besides the heads up they got her.
Fast forward a couple weeks and my wife got a call on Monday morning from Randall saying that he needed to go to the hospital. To the psych ward. For memory care we asked? No the psychiatric floor. They were looking into finding him a bed anywhere within an hours drive. He was going to need to be evaluated for at least a couple of weeks.
So my wife meets with the marketing director to find out what is going on. Apparently he had taken food off of someone else's plate! And then he tried to open the door to the wrong apartment! He NEEDS memory care and they just couldn't accommodate him. They wanted him in a different facility and the sooner the better. It was that or they were going to send him to the psych ward. We moved him on Thursday.
So in less than 30 days he was in and out of Randall. He was out the $1000 initiation fee. We were out the effort to move him twice and he was confused about what he had done wrong. "But I like it here?!" A place that was supposed to help and support us and make dealing with Alzheimer's easier had made it worse.
I don't know if it was fraud or incompetence that led him to be evaluated as "independent" but neither is a good look. We did have friends mention to us that the seemingly incongruous psych ward recommendation is a tool used to evict patients. Google "patient dumping psych ward". Another reviewer had the same issue.
Finally, you should be cautious of putting much weight on the reviews available here or on Randall's web site. While getting ready to write this review I noticed at least 5 (of about twenty) that were posted by employees from cooks to the executive director. There was even one on Randall's own web site from the marketing director's ex-husband. If they are willing to compromise their integrity for a google review how can they be trusted to care for your loved one?
