The Mount Pisgah Monument, located near the town of Thayer, Iowa, commemorates the Latter-day Saints who passed away at the temporary settlement of Mount Pisgah along the Mormon Trail.
Scenic country lot on the top of the hill crest maintained by the Mormon church. No visitors center or employees. Few signs to read. Picnic shelter. Two barbecue grills, fire pit, permanent out house building made of stone,And outdoor water. There is a river nearby but its location is obscured by trees. However we are visiting in May and there are many migratory birds honking and chirping. It’s on a quarter mile rock road with absolutely no traffic. Some nearby farm buildings without people. Fantastic place to camp for free. Decent cellular data here

Personal, humbling, and concerned it will become a forgotten site of such relevancy for the Mormon Westward trek.

Must see on the Mormon trail. This is a truly special place. If you can meet the neighbors that give tours ask for Bob Brown. Sweetest man with history and findings scarce to be found. Loved this experience. Even learned how to run witching wires.
