But it’s also true that the LDS Church has a troubling history of mishandling sexual assault, including at this location. To my knowledge, leaders here are not mandatory reporters, do not undergo background checks, and have not appropriately contacted local authorities in some cases, including my own. If you are LGBTQ+ or do not fit their ideals, you may experience silence, exclusion, or conditional love. Please consider asking hard questions about safety, accountability, and inclusion before committing your trust or your family’s well-being to this congregation. (I’m sharing this again because my previous post appears to have been removed. This is my personal experience, shared respectfully and truthfully.)

- CScraig sundellMar 22, 20215.0I've traveled all around the country and attended many different meetinghouses of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I am so grateful for the church leaders in this Iowa City area. We are taught about the Savior and His mission. We're not just taught to "Love our neighbors", but to do as the Savior did and that is to "Live His Gospel". The world is getting more and more polarized and it's just so comforting to come to His church on Sundays where I can learn His teachings and how to better cope in a world full of discord. If you're looking for a church to attend, this would be a great place to start your search.
