  I am genuinely shocked and disappointed by the experience I had at Bright Horizons today. I visited with my sibling, who has SEN, simply to collect an item. I was met by Shireen, whose attitude and manner towards us were, frankly, appalling. I completely understand that workplaces can be stressful and staff can be under pressure, but there is still a basic level of professionalism, patience and respect that families should be able to expect. What shocked me even more was finding out that Shireen is the manager. As a manager, particularly in an environment dealing with children and families with different needs, I would expect a much higher level of awareness, empathy, communication and professionalism. When someone comes in accompanied by a person with SEN, I would hope that a manager would be capable of recognising that the situation may require a little more patience and understanding — not an attitude that leaves someone feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. What makes this experience even more concerning to me is the wider context surrounding Bright Horizons. There has already been serious public reporting and legal proceedings concerning a former Bright Horizons worker who was jailed for abusing children. Given the seriousness of what has previously happened and the understandable concerns families may have as a result, I would expect the organisation and its management to be doing everything possible to rebuild trust and demonstrate the highest standards of care, compassion and professionalism. To be clear, I am not suggesting Shireen had anything to do with the actions of that former employee. My point is that when an organisation has already faced something so serious, the conduct of its current managers and staff matters enormously. Every interaction with a family is an opportunity to demonstrate that lessons have been learned and that families are being treated with the respect and sensitivity they deserve. Unfortunately, that was not how I felt today. Although Shireen eventually apologised, by that point the experience had already left a very negative impression. She remained “helpful” afterwards, but it felt like the absolute minimum effort rather than genuine care or an attempt to properly resolve how we had been treated. More importantly, despite receiving an apology, I personally did not feel that the apology was genuine. Had I walked away feeling that there had been sincere acknowledgement of the way the interaction had been handled, I may have felt differently. Instead, I left feeling that the apology did little to address the attitude and behaviour I had experienced, and that is ultimately what has led me to write this review. There is much more to what happened that I do not feel comfortable sharing publicly, but I left genuinely shaken by the interaction. The amount of adrenaline and anxiety I experienced afterwards was completely unnecessary, particularly considering I had only gone there to collect an item. For someone in a management position, I found the whole interaction incredibly disappointing. Managers set the standard for the rest of their team, and based on my personal experience today, this fell far below the standard I would expect. I seriously hope this feedback is taken on board and that more consideration is given to how families — particularly those attending with individuals with SEN or additional needs — are spoken to and treated. I also would not want another parent, family member or visitor walking through the doors of Bright Horizons to be met with the same attitude from someone representing the organisation front of house. First impressions matter, particularly in an organisation where families need to feel comfortable, respected and reassured from the moment they arrive. Despite the apology, this experience has made me reconsider visiting again. I urge management above branch level to look into what happened and whether this reflects the standards Bright Horizons expects from its managers. N.S

  I was trying to put my child in this nursery and they gave me different information every time I would ask them to arrange a appointment so I can register my child.
