I can’t speak highly enough of the teaching staff, they are all great with the children and my children are very fond of them.
However, the admin here is absolutely dreadful, I’d even go as far as to say it’s among the worst I have ever come across:
Communication during the pandemic has been awful. They take payments that are not owed and it then takes months for them to rectify the mistake (I’d like to say this is a one-off but I have spoken to other parents with similar issues). The nursery manager apparently doesn’t have a contact number for the accounts team and the emails sent to them are seemingly ignored.
In the event you need to change your contact details, this isn’t something that the nursery manager is able to do and you have to speak with the head office.
That aside, any excuse is used to close the nursery or send your children home (with you still having to pay the fees for that day). It says everything that following the pandemic, the first time they have been open for a full week is the first week of November (to be fair they weren’t charging for the day they wasn’t open).
I really don’t think you will find a nursery in the area that is as badly run as this but if you are willing to deal with the headache, your children are in good hands as the teaching staff are great.

Frequently Asked Questions About Asquith Barley Barn Sawbridgeworth Day Nursery
How do I find my closest nursery?
You can browse details of nurseries in your area by visiting our landing page. You are also welcome to speak with our Parent Enquiry team on 0330 433 2460, or to email us at parentenquiry@brighthorizons.com.
Why are tours important?
Our personal tours have been especially designed to enable you to get a feel for the nursery and chat with our staff. During your tour, our nursery team will be on hand to answer any questions and to discuss your child’s individual care requirements. We want you and your child to feel comfortable right from the start.
How do I go about securing a place for my child at your nursery?
Firstly, we would recommend booking a personal tour of the nursery or nurseries you are interested in if you haven’t done so already. Visiting the nursery means you can meet our team, talk through your requirements in person and really appreciate what we have to offer your family. You will also be able to ask the nursery manager about availability and how to register.
Our nurseries fill up quickly, especially now that additional funding is being made available to parents of babies, so if you would like to book a place with us, we recommend you do that as soon as possible, to avoid disappointment. If you are expecting a new baby, or are planning to move house, we suggest you start looking for a place sooner, rather than later. In larger towns and cities, you may find two or three local Bright Horizons nurseries, so do look at all of your nearby options, particularly if your first choice is full.
