  This review is not a reflection on the actual nursery itself, but the attitude of one member of staff when I tried to make use of the tap on the grounds so that our 2 puppies could have a drink on a relatively hot day. Attitude and politeness come above everything when it comes to first impressions, and I'm sorry to say that this particular member of staff let herself down while being caught up in her own sense of self importance. Upon trying to head to the tab (we have accessed it previously but later in the day when the nursery has been closed for the day), the member of staff opened the window to ask me what I was doing. I politely just said I was due to make use of the tab for the dogs. She said that the kids were to come out soon, that it is private property, and that the dogs should be on a lead (one dog was already on a lead). I immediately put the second dog on a lead. A normally polite and understanding person would know it was a hot day, and at least allow me to quickly fill up the water bottle for the dogs but no. Me being by the tap for all of 20 seconds and her wanting to get rid of me ASAP was far more important than allowing 2 puppies to drink some water, before we would've been on our way as we have done 100's of times before when walking through the mearrymeade. As an uncle to 2 nephews who are both under the age of 2.5 years, the safety of children is very important to me and my actions while out with the puppies was never going to do anything to endanger anyone let alone nursery kids. All I needed was a mere minute to fill up a water bottle. The look on her face, and her tone was extremely unfriendly and I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable her being around kids in a slightly power trip situation. Duty of care and empathy are not restricted to only inside classrooms. An emotionally intelligent and well meaning individual would have understood the need for the puppies to have a drink. That is what compelled me to write this 'review'. The photos and names of staff are listed outside the nursery so the next time we walk by, I'll add her name to this review.

  Both my children attend Phoenix Nursery (3year old and 1 year old) in Brentwood, the staff are caring, passionate about what they do and professional. My husband and I couldn't be happier, as we have always felt that staff are genuine and this is reflected in the happiness of my children. Keep up the good work everyone! x

  The sense of fun, dedication, professionalism greet you at the front door. All staff members have got a caring, patient, warm, fun nature which ensure all the children's needs are met and more. To sum up I commute 30 miles to ensure my daughter receives quality childcare."

  The excellent staff create a very warm and friendly environment for the children to play and learn in. My children love it and I will be very sad when they have to leave.
