Let me start with the negatives, then the positives. For anyone suffering a bereavement be aware there are charges for putting up photos (this may be in line with other crems, but if it's your first time and offered this by the funeral director, be aware this is a charge, there is an extra charge if you want the photos to appear in the waiting room). I've not compared these charges and understand that if someone just wants a simple ceremony it should be cheaper, however for supplied photos and videos it did seem high, certainly when you are not expecting it. Webcam videos are not available for three working days, in the modern world that seems slow.
I had assumed (wrongly) that attended crem charges would be inclusive, so it felt a wee bit shabby practice. The funeral director did outline these costs in the quote, but not when you have your first discussion. So you've agreed to the items without knowing the price. Why should a funeral director be in a position to say you can have this and that at your first meeting only to say 'oh it will cost this and that. It sounds like a shopping list, they are there to help, not to sell to people who are vulnerable '. Attended funerals should have included x photos, x videos (production extra if required), x projections in waiting room as standard. Unattended funerals should be Y price, taking off these extras. People may say I want an attended funeral but without photos, so aggregate the price across so the overall charge goes up only slightly. Inclusive costs are always preferred.
The facility itself is wonderful, and state of the art. It's small, with plenty of parking for attendees. It would not be suitable for certain groups, as others have mentioned, if you are expecting large numbers. It is often hard to work out how many people are likely to attend, but if the deceased was younger or had a large circle of friends, consider this carefully. The projection system onto the wall (included :), was amazing. You choose your own backdrop from a selection, which means you are likely to attend a few funerals there before the place looks the same. There is an electronic curtain to hide the coffin after the committal; this is a lovely touch. There was a funeral arriving as we were leaving, however, this is not dissimilar to other funerals we've been to, and at least guests were not struggling to park. If the relatively minor gripes were sorted, I would have given this five stars. For our attendees, it was a very good experience.
