  My mother is a resident of Manor Lake in Ellijay, and as a testimonial I would like to state that I have rarely been as impressed with any nursing/assisted living facility as I have been Manor lake. I am a paramedic and nurse and have experience with both types of facilities! The staff, the facility and the care provided by them are one of the best I have experienced!

  We absolutely love Manor Lake! My Father in law experienced a stroke in February that left his left side paralyzed, he was wheel chair bound. Manor Lake and physical therapy has him using a walker now and even a cane with assistance. This place has a lovely atmosphere, the staff is friendly and always makes us feel welcome. My Father in law has met friends and is happy and content. The rooms are nice and he looks forward to every meal… Especially breakfast! Manor Lake is clean and gorgeous inside. This is the place I would highly recommend to anyone needing a place for their loved one.

  My sister lived at Manor Lake assisted Living in Ellijay GA for about a year. She was first paired with a mental patient that screamed at her all day and physically tried to take my sister’s room, she thought it was hers. At my insistence the screaming lady was moved to a different room and shortly thereafter another lady was moved in. The new resident that moved in had a leaky bowel and walked around with feces on the seat of her pants and down her legs. When she used the toilet that she shared with my sister she left feces literally all over the toilet seat from where it had leaked out onto her body. One day I was there cleaning my sisters room and opened the bathroom trash can, there was a “big pile” of feces on paper towels thrown in the can. Not just wiped on the towels but a pile where the lady used the towels instead of the toilet. My sister tried to clean the feces off the toilet seat with paper towels and when I brought Lysol spray the employees removed it from bathroom. My sister had to use that bath room, breathe that mess and touch those bathroom fixtures until she got bacterial pneumonia in both lungs. This lady came in my sisters room, sat in her chair and feces leaked out all over my sister’s upholstered chair. She and other residents were forced to eat at the same table with this lady who had feces all over her. I had my sister taken out of that filthy environment and placed into another room but it was too late. I lived an hour away and could not drive to Ellijay every day. *She had bacterial pneumonia in both lungs, Shingles and Covid all in about a three month period. Her health continued to deteriorate until she died a few months later. The food my sister had to eat while she was there was nowhere near the standards it should have been. My sister ate the same thing 3 or 4 times a weeks and other residents complained about how bad the food was as well. I walked in one day and a worker had her teenaged daughter at work with her and the girl was sitting on the counter where wheelchair patients were fed with her legs crossed in front of her and had her shoes on the table as well. If the health department was aware of the unsanitary conditions at Manor Lake they would take action, I’m sure. The employees there were always nice except for management didn’t seem to care about the patients, just the revenue. I blame the management for ever allowing these things to happen. Money seemed far more important than safety and living conditions of their residents. I hope whoever reads this review will pass it on to corporate and maybe these practices will no longer be allowed to happen. No elderly person should ever have to endure this type of treatment. It has been 8 months since my sister died and I still cry about what happened to her while she lived at the Ellijay, GA Manor Lake Assisted Living.

  My husband was in Blueridge Assisted Living and Memory Care. He became a resident in August 2022. Between August and May they had 12 caregivers leave, three Administrators, first two were terrible and three memory unit directors. The staff were always pleasant and the new administrator and memory unit director are professional, however I have no confidence in the corporation. They don’t care about the facility. I moved my husband to Manor Lake which is 20 minutes further for me. A forty minute trip, but it was worth it. The staff is wonderful. The people from the head administrator down are fantastic and very reachable. Director of memory unit is very experienced and morale is high. The caregivers are the same ones you see on the different shifts unlike Blueridge facility where there are new people each day. I am satisfied that he is in good hands. Last Saturday we celebrated my husband’s 90th birthday at the beautiful club house Manor Lake offers for special occasions for your love one who is a resident. I cannot say enough about this facility. Staff is wonderful, easy to converse with anyone in administration, clean, good food and snacks always available. My husband has stated that he is happy there. Everyone who has visited him including at his party were very impressed with the Memory Care Unit.
