The property is beautiful and the amenities are top notch! We had a very nice dinner in the dining room. The food was delicious and our server Orvile was very attentive and personable. We had an overall great experience and we are so happy that our parents found a great place to call home!

I was told by:
“THE MANAGMENT TEAM” 4+ years ago That the front doors to assisted living would be open until 8:00pm.
I took Mom out for a dinner and “PURPOSELY” left dinner early to get Mom home before the doors closed:
“AT 8:00PM NOT 7:00PM” as it was this evening…12/12/2024 Saturday
I also had to hear EVERY SINGLE EXCUSE From the concierge- EXCEPT
“I’M SORRY”
The communication skills are ABSOLUTELY LACKING not only for visitors but also for the residents.
I guess you don’t want LOVE ONES VISITING (Mom’s or Dad’s especially during the holidays)????

My Mom is new to Sonata Lake Mary. Her 'efficiency' style room is very bright and nicely laid out with comfortable and attractive furnishings. The staff seems very friendly and and the facility is very clean, bright and modern with many residents happily sitting out front on the white rocking chairs greeting folks as they come in. We were very impressed with the food quality, quantity and taste her first night there when we all sat down for dinner. The only downfall, and one that is apparently a daily occurrence as noted by my mother and many other residents she's come to meet, as well as from staff member feedback, is the very evident understaffing of the wait staff. There are only two servers in one dining room and one in the other. Being a former server myself, there are way too many tables per server and the tables are not assigned, so each server just goes to whichever table they 'may' have seen seat themselves. Additionally, the three servers have to bus, prebus, clean and run food for all the tables. This is WAY to much and significantly detracts from the resident experience. Our first meal there, with a party of four, took close to ONE HOUR to be served. While we waited, we saw a resident couple have to sit at a dirty table, because it was the only one available, for an extremely long time before either of the two servers even approached/greeted them to simply clear the table, let alone get a drink order. They were visibly upset, but what could they do? There's no place else for them to eat there??? My immediate suggestions are to have assigned tables for the two servers in the one dining room so there's no question as to who's waiting on whom, hire at least one preferably two more servers, and/or hire a food runner/busser to fill in the gaps. For some residents, the meal in the dining room is the only thing they have to look forward to and to have to wait for such an unacceptable amount of time is not good for their emotional state, nor is the understaffing of servers good for the moral of the wait staff. This is a big problem that needs to be addressed quickly. We would like meal time to be an enjoyable time for our Mother and the other residents, not a source of frustration when they're already hungry.
