  I moved my father into this facility after a stay at a skilled nursing and rehab facility. It was the first time moving my dad anywhere other than a private residence, so I had a lot to learn. We've now gotten a couple moves under our belt and can say that Grand Villa has been the worst experience by far. The nursing staff didn't communicate with the floor staff and at doctor's appointments they never faxed over paperwork, or paperwork and medications was constantly getting lost. When I would notify the nurse about missing prescriptions, nothing was done about it even though they said it would be taken care of. Meals are only provided in the dining room and if your loved one doesn't have the energy to go downstairs, a meal will not be brought to the room even though it's offered at a fee on their service menu. The protocol for meals was to encourage other residents to buddy up for meal reminders and if floor staff saw a resident eating candy or chips in their room, mark them down as having had a meal for that time period, but not to assist them in getting up for a meal in the dining room. I've learned this from staff who left Grand Villa because they were disheartened by the inhumanity of the protocols and being stretched so thin caring for multiple floors on their own. I've seen former staff around town and at other facilities I've checked out for my father and they all tell me the same things. For a lower price, other facilities have demonstrated continuity of care even when new staff is hired. My father is greeted by friendly staff where he is now in Orange City. Meals are great quality where family and friends are often seen dining with residents in the dining room. The chef herself serves meals and can list all the ingredients used in every recipe. It's a complete difference from Grand Villa where for a few weeks watery broth, and hotdogs were regularly served for lunch because they couldn't hold onto a decent cook. I wish I could have taken all the friend's my dad made and moved them with him. The experience we had with Grand Villa was eye opening and gut wrenching.

  Was looking at the facility the other day. Looks like an exceptional place to retire. There are activities, services, meals and various levels of care.
