Ἀπετέλεσε τὸν Καθεδρικὸ τῆς Ἐκκλησιας τῆς Κύπρου μέχρι τὸ 2021, ὁπόταν καὶ ἐγκαινιάστηκε ὁ Νέος Καθεδρικὸς τῆς Ἐκκλησίας Κύπρου, Ἀπόστολος Βαρνάβας, νοτίως τοῦ παλαιοῦ Καθεδρικοῦ, πίσω ἀπὸ τὴν Ἱερὰ Ἀρχιεπισκοπή. Ὁ παλαιὸς Καθεδρικὸς εἶναι μνημεῖο τῆς πολιτιστικῆς κληρονομιᾶς τῆς Κύπρου καὶ λόγῳ τῶν ἀνεκτίμητων τοιχογραφιῶν του.
