Τὰ ἐγκαίνια τοῦ ναοῦ ἔγιναν στὶς 11 Ἰουνίου 2021, ἡμέρα κατὰ τὴν ὁποία ἑορτάζει ὁ Ἀπόστολος Βαρνάβας, ὁ ἱδρυτὴς καὶ προστάτης τῆς Ἐκκλησίας τῆς Κύπρου. Ὁ νέος Καθεδρικὸς Ναὸς Ἀποστόλου Βαρνάβα ἀνεγέρθη δίπλα ἀπὸ τὸ Ἀρχιεπισκοπικὸ Μέγαρο, στὴν ἐντὸς τῶν τειχῶν Λευκωσία, ἐπὶ Μακαριστοῦ Ἀρχιεπισκόπου κυροῦ Χρυσοστόμου Β΄. Εἶναι ρυθμοῦ σταυροειδοῦς ἐγγεγραμμένου μὲ τροῦλλο καὶ ἔχει στοιχεῖα περίκεντρου, λόγῳ τῆς ἀπουσίας κολώνων στὸ ἐσωτερικό του. Ὁ τροῦλλος εἶναι διακοσμημένος μὲ ψηφιδωτὴ παράσταση καὶ ἔχει διάμετρο 14 μέτρα.
