My mom has been there for over a year. It was only supposed to be for a couple of months. I have been advocating for her from the first day. After about 5 months, they finally asked the orthopedist to see her. Before she got admitted there, she had fallen a couple of times at home. While there for the first 4 months she was in PT. She ended up not continuing because they told me she was always in pain. I told them, that's what I've been trying to tell them. All they wanted to do was give her pain medication instead of having an orthopedist come and see her. When it finally happened, she was able to get injections in her knees (5 months later) and now with the injections, she's doing better. But they're not doing physical therapy. For insurance, she's on a dual program. Once they drained that insurance, they put her on a dementia floor with a roommate. She doesn't have dementia, but her roommate does. They don't like when I ask questions. Once she was moved to that floor and her dual insurance coverage lapsed, they barely even notice her. I'm working on getting the services she needs to get out of there and come home with me. The patients get ignored there and once they run out the dual insurance, they really don't care. Even if they're crying in pain. That's not humane.
