  Feb 28, 2026 From the moment we first met with the staff at Monte's, we were put at ease as we were guided through a difficult time. Brian went through each step explaining what was necessary and what was optional. We felt very comfortable when we left our meeting and were completely happy with the services. Everything was done exactly as we wanted with Monte's team handling everything. Monte's is the last family-run funeral home in the area and their caring is beyond expectations.   With an ailing older brother whose health was failing rapidly,, I was recently faced with arranging for the handling of his earthly remains. Although a transplant from the East over 30 years ago, I had no experience working with anyone from the funeral business out here. I might add that I come from 3 generations of funeral directors and I consider my late father to have run the most professional funeral home business ever. So back to the task at hand and reaching out to the various entities that serve Marin County, I was made aware of the preponderance of large corporations now running funeral homes that were likely originally single-owner businesses.There is often nothing wrong with consolidation within industries, but in my calls I found only one business that still seemed professional, caring and had true ties within the community. That was Monte's Chapel of the Hills. Over the phone, Brian Hood answered all of my questions and guided me through the process of what to expect once my brother passed. At the end of the day, I had decided Monte's would be my choice. Almost a month later, my brother passed away. I reached back out to Brian and he remembered me and everything we had talked about. I felt relief that he was able step in and provide the kind services that we had discussed. Monte's lived up to my expectations and I am very satisfied with their services and support.

  Our experience with Monte’s Chapel of the Hills was outstanding. Brian went above and beyond — compassionate, organized, and truly professional. In a single visit, he helped us navigate everything we needed to create a beautiful tribute for my mother. His referrals were excellent, and on the day of the service, he was there making sure every detail was flawless. I would recommend Brian and Monte’s Chapel of the Hills without hesitation.

  in the days that followed my brother in laws passing, Brian Hood was a comforting voice and very considerate about our concerns. He helped us through the process up to and including where we should have my brother in law interned. He offered me less expensive alternatives since he knew we had financial concerns. In the end we knew my brother in law was where he needed to be in the caring hands of Monte's. I know these things are hard to face but with their help we got thru is peacefully. Thank you Brian and all the staff at Monte's Chapel of the Hills.

  Brian Hood was such a peaceful and calm blessing with my aunt's passing. I live across the country, and he was able to explain everything and help me make long-distance decisions. There was never any pressure or deadline to make decisions. Very personalized service. Clear answers. Everyone thought that my aunt's goodbye was beautiful and perfect.
