  If you’re searching for a place where your loved one will be treated with dignity, kindness, and real compassion, look no further. The facility itself is spotless. Every common area, every hallway, every room is kept immaculately clean, which gave us enormous peace of mind, especially when it comes to health and safety. The staff here go above and beyond in ways that are hard to put into words.

  I scheduled a last-minute, evening visit to this facility, and Tracey was extremely accommodating. I had asked her the day before if an evening visit was possible as I work during the day, and she made arrangements with her family so she could stay late to do the tour. When I arrived, she was welcoming and has such a positive energy. She showed me the entire facility, including a couple of available room options. She also answered all of my questions candidly, which I truly appreciate. She also brought in Lauren, the Resident Care Director, to provide a preliminary care estimate. Both were very patient and extremely kind, listening closely to my descriptions of my dad's care needs and preferences. I got a definite sense that I could trust Lauren to be accountable for my dad's physical well being based on her descriptions of protocols for the residents' care. The facility is lovely and spotless and is located in a beautiful, tree-lined area of Rolling Hills Estates. It has an upscale vibe, and the residents I observed appeared very happy to be there. It is definitely well worth checking out for your loved one!

  Unsanitary. Understaffed. Unsafe. I moved my mother into the memory care wing of this facility just over a year ago and could not be more horrified by the conditions and lack of care that I witnessed. This includes multiple, documented incidents of: 1. recent bed bugs infestation 2. medication mismanagement (my mother was given a triple overdose of one medication, dispensed another resident's medication, and had her emergency inhaler destroyed without authorization) 3. residents left soiled and neglected 4. serious falls among various residents that resulted in broken hips for two of them 5. constant staff turnover and 6. increased dependence on poorly trained temp workers, etc. Given the glowing reviews, my comments may seem like an outlier. However, it is actually a reflection of the drastic decline of Merrill Gardens in the past 10 months. Despite repeated efforts by myself and other families to address these issues with management and several, separate complaints filed to the Department of Social Services, leadership has failed to properly respond and course correct. As a result, we have been forced to remove our loved ones and place them elsewhere for their safety and well being. Given how Merrill Gardens treats its most vulnerable residents (those with severe dementia), I would highly discourage anyone from considering this facility; it not only demonstrates their lack of care and quality but also their lack of humanity.

  I wanted to leave a review for this community to acknowledge the staff’s welcoming atmosphere and consideration of care that goes to each resident. There is an abundance of resources available for residents’ support and I can’t recommend this place enough:)

  Merrill Gardens Rolling Hills is an exceptional community. From the moment you walk in, you can feel how warm, welcoming, and well cared for it is. The staff is professional, compassionate, and truly goes above and beyond to make residents and families feel supported. The community is beautifully maintained, the atmosphere is calm and friendly, and there’s a genuine sense of respect and dignity in how residents are treated. It’s clear that a lot of heart goes into what they do here. I would highly recommend Merrill Gardens Rolling Hills to anyone looking for a safe, comfortable, and caring senior living community.
