About a year ago, I gave the Mormon Church a second try. It took a lot of courage to walk back into that space after years away, just to see if it still aligned with me and my beliefs. At first, I let the missionaries visit, and although I was hesitant, I even went back to church once or twice. Eventually, I realized it wasn’t the right path for me.
I respectfully told the missionaries I wouldn’t be coming back and that I didn’t want any further contact. My decision had nothing to do with them personally — it was just where I was at spiritually. I thought that would be the end of it.
But they returned. It was hot outside, so I told them they could stop by just for water if they needed. That’s when they came again — and this time, they said someone (I believe the mission secretary) had asked them to find out where I worked.
That crossed a line.
I had already made it clear I wanted no further involvement with the church. They already knew my full name and address — so asking about my employment felt invasive, inappropriate, and unnecessary.
The woman in question had shoulder-length hair that was blonde or going gray, blue eyes, strong build, tall, and wore church dresses. I no longer remember her name, but I was deeply uncomfortable that someone in a church position would try to dig deeper into my personal life after I had said “no.”
For me, religion is personal and sacred. I am still a religious person, but I didn’t feel spiritually safe or respected continuing with the Mormon Church. This experience only confirmed that boundary violations are not taken seriously here — and that’s why I’m writing this review. I find it strange to use the missionaries in this manner. I will most likely never come back to the Mormon Church.
The name was something berry or terry but I cannot remember. I didn't think it was strange that she was gathering all the type of information that you would need to open up a credit card. I thought that was really strange, considering they knew my first name, my last name, address, email, and phone number, and now she was asking my work and where I worked, looking for an address to that. If I were anyone here freeze your credit.
