It was surprisingly easy to work long distance from a different state to get my daughter cremated. Jay made the process go smoothly.

My family and I are very pleased with the utmost respect that was shown in the handling of our mother’s care during this difficult time in our lives. The staff was very attentive to our needs and very helpful in offering suggestions when needed. We would like to thank Joseph Amaro and Lee Blackstone for all the assistance and support given to our family during this difficult time.

Josef was our primary caretaker. He was knowledgeable on everything and took plenty of time and care to ensure we had the best experience honoring our daughter. The program itself was beautiful and easy to send via internet photos and wording as we wanted it. The sound system and video was great and went smoothly. Our daughter was laid to rest looking her best. Unlike other funeral homes Jays does their own embalming and makeup. Also. They photograph the pall bearers transport from the chapel to the graveyard and other special moments. Their instructions on the day of the service helped in making a memorable funeral from the chapel to the graveyard. Rating excellent.

Jay's Funeral Chapel review 2/14/26.
Jay's has always been the go to place as far as I'm concerned for funeral services and comfort in that very important time of need.
Recently at Doc Ed LeTourneau's funeral service, I was again struck by the comfortable home-like feeling I'd felt at my mother in law's funeral service. The chapel was packed for Ed's service and there was barely standing room left. Yet everyone was comfortable. The family was well cared for. I enjoyed reading the many remembrances made by guests regarding Dr Ed. I didn't realize that was a possibility on their website.
Jay's provided burial services for my mother in law, sister in law, ex-pastor and many good friends over many years. So I looked them up and realized they also were on the website. What a bonus!
Jay's prices and services seem to be in line with the other funeral chapels, but I prefer the personal touch Jay's provides. I recall the funeral when Sonny Nishamoto passed, years ago. It was entirely too huge even for Jay's chapel. So it was held at our church. Jay's provided the welcome and guidance and other personal needs throughout the funeral, just like they do at their chapel. Sonny's funeral was huge (I was later told it was over a thousand people), but Jay's handled it well. They have such friendly staff.
No one looks forward to dying, but when we plan for that inevitability, and we choose where we want our service to be, we want to know that everything will be comfortable and affordable. I'm 80, so I'm approaching that time. I've been to many funeral service in my lifetime and I want to know that my family and friends, will be able to celebrate my life with comfort. Jay's would be the place I would choose.
I also love their online information and sharing option.

I was very greatful to find Jay Chapel Funeral after trying another place. We had an unexpected death in the family and couldn't be in California to make arrangements but everyone was so helpful in explaining everything to us about the process and answering any questions we had. They were all very caring and Phillip got back to us quickly anytime we had a concern. We don't always plan for these things so it's very comforting when you find the right place to help you through it all.

Make a list of immediate family, close friends and employer or business colleagues. Notify each by phone.
Decide on appropriate memorial to which gifts may be made (church, hospice, library, charity or school).
Gather obituary information you want to include such as age, place of birth, cause of death, occupation, college degrees, memberships held, military service , outstanding work, list of survivors in immediate family. When I call, will someone come right away?
If you request immediate assistance, yes. If the family wishes to spend a short time with the deceased to say good-bye, that’s perfectly acceptable. Your funeral director will come when your time is right.
Should I choose Burial or Cremation?
Burial in a casket is the most common method of disposing of remains in the United States, although entombment also occurs. Cremation is increasingly selected because it can be less expensive and allows for the memorial service to be held at a more convenient time in the future when relatives and friends can come together.
A funeral service followed by cremation need not be any different from a funeral service followed by a burial. Usually, cremated remains are placed in urn before being committed to a final resting place. The urn may be buried, placed in an indoor or outdoor mausoleum or columbarium, or interred in a special urn garden that many cemeteries provide for cremated remains. The remains may also be scattered, according to state law.
What is the purpose of embalming?
Embalming sanitizes and preserves the body. Embalming makes it possible to lengthen the time between death and the final disposition, allowing family members time to arrange and participate in the type of service most comforting to them.
