- BGBeth GriffithJan 31, 20261.0Went to the women's meeting and was told on no uncertain terms that if I don't believe in Joseph Smith, I don't belong there. I was told it's expected that I'll blend in with their culture and cover my shoulders and tattoos. The Bishop asked my husband what underwear I'm wearing while he was walking our child through the neighborhood bc I couldn't be showing my shoulders and be wearing shorts and be wearing the church issued underwear - and he received extremely rude comments about being married to me from ward members. The Bishop called my husband and said "We know you aren't paying tithing because of your wife so we want to work with you on getting a temple recommend anyway because we know it is because of her and not you." They literally worked to drive religion as a wedge between us further - spoiler: it worked. At another congregation in Mesa I was told I was going to be excommunicated for attending the Pride Parade. I was told directly to get in line or get out of the church - so I did. Do with that what you will.
