Overlake KinderCare is a place where children are treated with kindness, patience, and genuine care. The staff works hard to make sure every child feels seen and supported. Teachers take time to understand each child’s needs and help them grow at their own pace. The learning activities are creative and engaging, and there’s a strong focus on social skills, independence, and confidence-building. The communication with families is wonderful — I always know what my child is learning, how they’re doing, and what’s coming next. It’s clear that Overlake KinderCare is dedicated to providing a safe, positive, and enriching environment. My child enjoys going every day and has grown in so many ways since enrolling. I’m truly grateful for the team here!

My child used to go to this center until a few weeks ago, when my wife and I decided it was enough. We were fooled by the principal. Our main concern was the food. She claimed they prepared organic and fresh food every day. Sufficient in quality and quantity to feed the kids under a balanced diet. Judge by yourself. They offer a 'breakfast' in the morning. Now you tell me if you feel it's sufficient in nutrients: it's usually half a glass of the cheapest milk and cereal they could buy. That's it! Some days they add a piece of veggie of fruit. In all these months there were few exceptions to that rule. When we noticed this pattern, we started paying closer attention to the menu, and actually kept track of every single meal they offered during the day. Trust me, your kid will be poorly fed if going to this center, which in the long run impacts their health and development. And this was also fact-checked with two pediatricians that we have asked to review the menu of this center. The cook's work in this center is quick and easy: they consistently prepare unperishable food, mostly canned, that they only need to warm before serving it to the kids. The lack of animal protein is the most evident, but the variety is also poor. They treat all kids like vegans, with few exceptions when they serve a small portion of chicken meat or canned tuna. The most common lunch goes like this: mac and cheese, steamed beans/peas/carrots or similar veggie, milk and a piece of fruit. That's supposed to be the main meal of the day! The afternoon snacks are usually like this: a glass of water, a little hummus, and a few baby carrots. Less commonly, they add a few crackers, or they just repeat the milk and cereal from the breakfast. We don't have much complains about the teachers, although in a couple of occasions I caught them yelling at the kids for simple things. They are kids after all, they won't stand still all day. We also noticed that the teachers do very few activities with the kids throughout the day. In the app they will send you pictures of your child almost daily, doing some activity. But they only take pictures during those few minutes of improvised activities, so that you get impressed by how much they are learning. In reality, most of the day the kids are just bored, playing by themselves with the same toys. The teacher most of the time just keep an eye on them to avoid they get injured. We thought this was just how childcare centers work. But now that we changed our child to another center, it's a huge difference: the food in the new center is freshly cooked the same day, with a much better variety and quality. We also feel that the teachers have a clear plan of what they will teach each week, and keep the parents posted on the progress of their child in a more personalized manner. Not just a generic 'he/she is doing good' feedback that we used to get in the previous center. We don't miss anything about the Overlake Kindercare.
