My son attended 1:1 drum lessons here a few months ago. I truly hoped this could be a long-term learning place for him, but our experience was disappointing. After a couple of months into the classes, the school called me out of surprise asking to terminate our contract without providing a convincing reason besides “they couldn’t keep my son safe in the classroom” Several concerns added up over time: • The teacher often ended class about 2 minutes early (and occasionally started 1–2 minutes late due to student transitions, as sessions are scheduled back-to-back). I mentioned this politely a few times when the teacher was ready to wrap up, by asking if my son can use the last two mins to free play (showing my phone still had 2 mins left), the teacher agreed (it is awkward having to ask this every time). I also noticed the classroom clock runs 2 minutes ahead of my phone and mentioned this to the front desk as a possible reason for early dismissal. I understand teachers may need short breaks between lessons, but if that’s the case, it should be built into the schedule—not by reducing lesson time. Since lessons cost $52 for 30 minutes, I suggest the school consider advertising them as 25 minutes to allow for transition and note-taking while setting the right expectations for parents. • While parent participation was not required, we were told we could observe. We intentionally sat quietly and gave space so as not to interfere. Yet, we were later told we should have “done something” when my son was not behaving—this felt unreasonable, especially for a 6-year-old who is just starting to learn. This is cited as one of the reasons why they couldn’t “keep it safe” and didn’t want to continue our lessons. • Talking about keeping the place safe, their front desk area is really crowded during class transition time. People push each other around trying to get in and out, with kids being pushed around. There was one time we entered the classroom (me with my son) right when last group existed from the classroom, because it was too crowded in the waiting area. We were later being warned by the owner that we shouldn’t have entered without a teacher. Well, first nobody said anything before or when we signed up for the class, second, why was the teacher not there when the class already started? That felt very rude and unreasonable to me, but we let it go and tried to respect that hoping it was really for the cause of safety. • They had concerns with my son’s behavior (typical 6 year old boy, not concentrating 100% of the time), however, they did NOT provide an improvement plan nor opportunities to try it again. Rather than stating the fact that my son might not be ready, they essentially accused us for all the reasons why they had to terminate. I expected more patience and empathy from instructors working with young beginners. Unfortunately, the atmosphere felt more transactional than nurturing, as if music was treated primarily as a business rather than a passion to be shared. A good music school should balance professionalism with warmth and understanding, especially with children. Sadly, our experience here did not meet that expectation.

Great atmosphere and great teachers! I also love the focus on having fun and, while developing individual music skills, also encourage to play with a band. George, Gabi and I are having fun!

I love my teacher and it's a great school if you get the right teacher. I saw a teacher talking to a student like she was dumb saying congratulations on writing your name correctly. And then asking if her necklace would stink up classroom. It was just a necklace and I couldn't smell anything from her. Then when she took out her phone he got mad accused her of recording him. Which phones aren't banned inside. And she didn't say anything but she looked terrified. So watch out some instructors are crazy. I was very lucky to get a good one.

We love Mr. Barney! My 6YO takes private piano lessons with him. He is very kind and patient, and has a way with kids. My daughter is extremely happy to come and see him every week!
