  We enrolled our daughter in the Glee classes at Bach to Rock (Lansdowne), and while the weekly classes themselves were fine, the winter recital was a mess. The recital opened—not with the kids—but with the teacher and her mother performing, which set a strange and awkward tone for what was supposed to be a student showcase. Two completely separate Glee classes, who had never rehearsed together, were suddenly combined on stage. The result was predictable: chaotic staging, uneven performance time, and 2 kids (including our daughter) getting overshadowed by one child dramatically acting like she was auditioning for Broadway bumping into the other girls… unfortunately with a rough singing voice as well. The most concerning part was when my husband politely asked that our daughter not be recorded or posted online, the teacher pushed back and said we “signed paperwork,” instead of responding professionally or respectfully. Regardless of paperwork, arguing with a parent about consent—especially involving a minor—is not appropriate. There’s talent here, and the concept is great. But execution, organization, and professionalism during events need improvement so we withdrew our kids. If you’re considering Bach to Rock for recitals or performances, manage your expectations.

  Love it here! Appreciate Bach to Rock (B2R) and its talented staff so much! We started just bringing my daughter in who had an interest in voice lessons. Typically kids just want to try something new and then quickly move on to the next thing, but that wasn’t the case at B2R! Lane, my daughter’s voice instructor is not only immensely talented, he’s an awesome, skilled instructor who has the perfect personality when it comes to working with children. He’s patient, funny and really great about encouraging my daughter all along the way, helping her reach her next level. She loves coming so much, she asked to join “Rock Band”! “Rock Band” has the kids collaborating as a fully functioning band! Because Lane was so good with my daughter, that got me thinking…. “Why am I just sitting around on my phone while she’s in her lesson?”. So then I decided to start guitar lessons while she’s in her lesson. Now I meet with Brandon each week. I have always tinkered with the guitar, I can play some chords, but I would say my style is analogous to a “ship without a sail”. Brandon is the perfect instructor for someone like me. He knows every song I have thrown at him and then can translate them in to a version I can play. He does this all while keeping me on track with a curriculum to better hone in on fundamentals.To say I look forward to the hour playing guitar with Brandon each week would be an understatement. Seeing how much my daughter and I enjoy coming each week, my wife started piano lessons! B2R also puts on live events in the community to showcase the talents of their students. This has continued to develop my daughter’s confidence as she continues progressing. B2R have done a wonderful job of tailoring their lessons to not only our varied ages, but our wide range of musical interests, instruments and skill levels. Thank you B2R for giving us all a great way to get off our phones while developing a creative outlet. I would say if you’re stuggling to find creative outlets for your kids, or you’re an adult looking for a stress reducing outlet that’s not work, then give Bach to Rock a shot!

  This place has been great to work with for the past few years that my daughter has been taking piano lessons. Easy flexibility with rescheduling and changing lesson times. Great communication as far as lessons and progress. Highly recommend!

  My daughter tried a camp experience that advertised it was for her age and for beginners. She felt looked down upon because she didn’t already play an instrument proficiently and generally did not feel welcome at this location.
