About

University
Karl G. Maeser was the spiritual architect of Brigham Young Academy, now Brigham Young University. The first building on upper campus, it functioned as the school's administrative center until 1961. During World War I soldiers of the Student Army Corps were housed there. (President Ernest L. Wilkinson discovered that his office was the same room he had bunked in as a soldier!) The building underwent a major restoration in 1985, and everything but the original walls were taken out. The interior was rebuilt and the Maeser Lecture Hall was restored to its original beauty. The Karl G. Maeser Memorial Building is now the home of BYU's Honors and General Education Departments.

The most classical goodness one can get on campus. Great place to dance less than a Book of Mormon width away from a girl late at night. Ave Roma! Ave Gens Cougaris!

It feels like time stops when you enter this building and you get teleported to an earlier, simpler time. Very nice. The people I met and the things I learned in here will last with me for a very long time. Do honors! It will change in your life in more ways than one.

Likely the most beautiful and oldest building on campus. It is home to the honors program.

This is easily the most beautiful building on BYU campus. The Honors reading room is in the basement here. Quietest study spot in the state.

This is an old building (the first one that was built up the hill), but it's still grand and well kept. There's a hidden two story lecture hall upstairs and lots of classrooms are still in use. It's really far away if you live north of campus but close if you live just south, so plan accordingly. The paths down the hill nearby might be dangerous at night.
