- ACAustin ClarkMay 24, 20221.0One can learn a lot of things in this building, most of which will take years to dissect and deconstruct. While many who instruct here have good intentions, the material (meaning church doctrine, historicity, and other data points) simply does not hold up to any scrutiny. This bias towards selectively ignoring certain difficult topics, whitewashing the past, or minimizing reality leaves the student with a lack of informed consent. This is huge case for concern as many students here will go on to make eternal covenants without full knowledge of their religion; in fact, receiving a heavily biased education away from facts and reality. Some highlights of my time here: - Discussing California's Prop. 8; which concluded with posting homophobic material shared with us on our social media accounts - Dedicating Joseph Smith's First Vision date to an entire day of hero worshipping. - Immense pressure applied daily by instructors for young men to serve missions, while also opening pretend mission calls. Perhaps things have changed since I last attended a decade ago. Perhaps not. If I were to change anything, it would be that students of religion should have full informed consent which making gigantic life decisions. It is in my view that this organization does not view this as a priority, and in fact, fights against it.
