  I honestly don't even know what to say here. We had received a lesson from our sons school in an auction and took him over for his first lesson. From the very beginning things started to go sideways. They couldn't find us in the system, but took us back to class anyway, which is where we met our instructor Renee. There was only one other child back there and Renee immediately let us know that she had already planned to read books to her (I thought this was music class?) and wouldn't be changing her plans just because our son was there. She made it very clear she was upset that he was there, and kept rolling her eyes at him and sighing loudly. A few other children arrived and they started doing what children do, playing instruments, touching things, and generally being children. Throughout this Renee was berating the children, screaming at them to stop and getting extremely angry that they weren't listening. When one of the girls grabbed a little shaker out of a basket Renee asked her what it was, and when the girl answered wrong she told the little girl that she was a 'freak' for not knowing the right answer. The entire visit was just the most bizarre thing I have ever seen, I'm not sure what Renee's training is in, but I don't think she has the temperament for handling children, especially in a class where they ask the parents to let the children go back alone, so glad we didn't do that. She seemed to have no interest in teaching music, just wanted to read books to the one girl, and kept screaming at the children, berating them, and calling them names. Sufficed to say, we left before the end of the class. We mentioned it to the front desk and asked if this was normal behavior and her only answer was that she would 'talk to her' about her behavior. Glad to see berating and screaming at children is taken seriously.

  My sons have been attending various classes at Fairfax B2R for two years now. They offer many classes to fit your schedule. The teachers make learning fun. My oldest son enjoys the small group classes, private lessons, and playing in front of live audiences at the open house and open mic events. My youngest son enjoys the summer camps for little kids learning about different instruments.

  We tried to enroll back our daughter and potentially 2 other children. However, the receptionist/supervisor, Paige, was not at all interested in getting new costumers. She had attitude, rolled her eyes, closed her eyes, and simply made us feel like we were bothering her. She was chatting it up with two other instructors in the front doing nothing, and acted as if we were interrupting them. Horrible costumer service, not what it used to be a few years back.

  Our son started here a few months ago after a negative experience at another local music store. The Bach to Rock staff has been so supportive and patient. Our son loves it there and has been making big improvements.
