  Update: while I appreciate the response I received for this review, we attempted to work through this issue with the school for months before we made the difficult decision to remove our children. There was nothing left to discuss which is why we made the decision we did. We had such a positive experience at this school for over a year and a half, which is what makes this review so difficult to write. We truly felt like we had found a unicorn childcare situation. Our daughter and son were happy, thriving, and loved going to school. We trusted their teachers and felt confident in the care they received. Because of that history, we gave a lot of grace when concerns first started after our daughter transitioned into the Preschool 1 classroom at age 3. We wanted to believe these were isolated incidents. We attempted to partner with the school and hoped that things would improve. Unfortunately, the concerns became a pattern. When our daughter transitioned into Preschool 1, she was fully toilet trained, but she was physically unable to reach to fully wipe independently after bowel movements. Our pediatrician reassured us that this was developmentally normal for her age and that fully independent wiping at 3 is not the expectation for most children. After moving into this classroom, she began coming home repeatedly with soiled underwear due to incomplete wiping (not accidents). She experienced two UTIs during this time, something she had never experienced before, and our pediatrician expressed concern about the hygiene issues we were reporting. There was also an incident where she did have an accident at school and was picked up with urine-soaked shoes and socks. She had been left in them long enough that the bottoms of her feet blistered. When we told them about the urine-soaked socks, they appeared concerned, but when we raised our concerns about the soiled underwear, we were told that the preschool classroom was not allowed to physically assist children with wiping because of Texas state law. We later found that Texas does allow for toileting assistance when appropriate, but regardless of the legal interpretation, the classroom policy was clear that children were expected to independently manage this aspect of toileting. One of the administrators told us that in her 20 years of teaching, this was the first time she had experienced a child who was physically unable to fully wipe themselves at age 3. This surprised us because our pediatrician had reassured us that this was developmentally normal. After speaking with other parents of similarly aged children, we learned many families were navigating the same stage of development. The final incident was the point where we knew we had to make a change. Staff noticed a skid mark before we picked her up and had our daughter change her underwear. As we drove home, she was screaming and crying that her bottom hurt and was itchy. When we got home, we took a look and saw that her underwear was soiled. They had changed her but still hadn't helped her wipe away what caused her first pair of underwear to be soiled! One of the hardest parts of all of this was seeing the change in our daughter. She went from being a very outgoing, joyful child to becoming much quieter and more withdrawn within a matter of weeks. After leaving and transitioning to a new childcare environment, we have seen such a positive change. Within days, she was back to being her happy, outgoing self, and she has not come home with soiled clothing once. I want to emphasize that we truly appreciated many of the teachers and positive experiences we had during our time at Primrose Rowlett. We were very sad to say goodbye to our son's classroom. This was not a decision we made quickly or easily. We stayed because we cared about the relationship we had built and wanted to believe the situation could improve. Ultimately, we realized the Preschool 1 classroom was not the right fit for our daughter’s needs, and the way our concerns were handled by administration was not a good fit for our family.

  Really disappointed that this location and firewheel don’t accept ccms but Wylie does. We moved from Wylie to south garland close to rowlett and couldn’t transfer our toddler to be able to stay with the primrose franchise we love because this location doesn’t accept ccms.

  Our son has flourished at Primrose. Feom the infant room to pre-k, all of his teachers have been great. You can tell they all really love and care for the kids. Many of the teachers own kids attend.
