  Our four-year-old son was enrolled at Challenger School for less than 30 days before we were told, at 4:30 p.m. on a Friday, that he was no longer welcome. We were informed at enrollment that the school follows a three-strike policy for behavioral concerns. That policy was not followed. After one suspension and without any documented intervention plan, structured support, or reasonable adjustment period, we were asked to withdraw him. At four years old, children are still developing impulse control and self-regulation. If there were concerns about attention or impulsivity, we expected documented observations, a formal meeting, a written plan, and time to measure progress. None of that occurred. There was no behavior plan, no measurable goals, and no clear effort to support our child before removal became the solution. Most concerning was how these matters were handled. Conversations about our son’s behavior were conducted by the campus director outside her office at the front desk, in a public area where families were entering and leaving. Sensitive discussions about a preschool-aged child should not take place in open, high-traffic spaces. We were told an “investigation” had occurred, yet no findings were ever shared. When we contacted the regional director to address our concerns, we received no response whatsoever. Financially, we were left with a $100 application fee, a $500 enrollment deposit, over $400 in required uniforms, a full first-month tuition payment, and an additional prorated tuition charge exceeding the standard monthly fee by more than $700. All of this for less than 30 days of attendance and no meaningful attempt at structured support. I will say that the two teachers in the 4’s class were exceptional. They were warm, professional, and clearly dedicated to their students. Unfortunately, that is the only positive aspect of our experience. We enrolled in good faith expecting professionalism, consistency, and a developmentally appropriate environment. Instead, our preschool-aged child was removed without being given a fair opportunity to adjust. Families considering this school should ask detailed questions about how behavioral concerns are documented, how interventions are implemented, and how leadership handles sensitive matters. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this school.

  My kid just finished summer school. I would like to share some experience during this period. The teachers do not proactively communicate with parents about the child's performance or any incidents at school. The parents need to take the initiative to make an appointment with the teachers to learn about the kid's progress. A performance report was distributed before the end of the summer program. However, it only contains check boxes without further detail. So we made an appointment. I arrived right before the scheduled time. But the teacher is not available at the scheduled time so I had to wait at least about 20 minutes before we meet. In March, we signed up for Challenger's summer school and 2024-25 academic year. When we toured the campus, we were told that the deposit can be counted towards the tuition. However, when the summer program started, we learned that the deposit can only be used on the fall or spring semester tuition. It does not apply for the summer school. Due to unforseen circumtances, we cannot enroll in the fall semester. Even though we notified the school two months in advance about withdrawing from the fall semester, the deposit could not be refunded or transferred to the summer school tuition. I understand that the school has its own rules and regulations, but we still feel disappointed that school does not offer some flexibility.

  Excellent staff and curriculum. Choosing Challenger for our daughter’s education is probably the second best choice I have made in my life (first marrying my beautiful wife).

  We LOVE Challenger school a lot! Our child joined Challenger the day after his 3rd birthday and he loves it. Before that, he was unhappy every morning when he walked into the old school's door. He is happier at Challenger with better manners and advanced knowledge. He is almost 4 years old and he learns how to eat healthy food, what planets are in our solar system, all 50 states of America, how to do basic additions and multiplications, and read books by himself. He didn't like singing, but now he is very proud of singing Jingle Bells loudly. This school is a place with love and advanced academics. First, the teachers are better than other preschools nearby. They are very well educated, which differs from other "baby sitters". The interview standards for teachers are higher than other schools, including writing an essay. They know how to learn well and how to teach effectively. Second, I love the teachers' personalities and style. They are very encouraging, which is important for young kids. Their personalities are warm and calm. They not only tell you what it is but also lead you to think about why you need to do it. Third, the school cares about every child. If you are more advanced in a specific area, then the teacher may give you more challenges to make you feel fun. For example, the teacher add several reading sessions for our son because he loves phonics and books. Furthermore, Challenger does not run a lot of advertisements because they focus more on the critical part - kids' development. The current size is small but the quality is super high. As a mom, I'm happy to see that my son says hello and thank you to every teacher. It means that he trusts them. He is happy everyday and excited about his show&tell opportunities on Tuesdays. It is funny that he teaches me phonics at home just like his teachers do it at school. Although answering lots of "why" questions is annoying, I'm happy to see that my son develops his critical thinking at this age. If you are looking for a school with love, good manners and advanced academic education, I highly recommend you come visit Challenger and experience the Challenger way of teaching.
