We can’t recommend Primrose School of Barker-Cypress enough. The teachers and staff have loved our children as their own and encouraged them to develop in their own way. Our oldest loves to review the learning schedule posted outside the classroom each morning and comes home each evening chatting about what was learned. Our youngest absolutely adores the teachers and we often find past teachers swinging by to say hello and play. The summer program includes fun activities (sports, splash day, yoga, dress up) which our children love! We receive multiple pictures per day sharing what they’re learning along with knowledge of what they’re eating, when they’re napping and if any incidents occur. The admin staff listens when we have concerns and resolves items quickly. We recommend Primrose to anyone who has littles!

I am sharing our experience in the hope that it helps other parents make an informed decision. Two stars why? 1 for having structure, one for being clean. My son attended this school for approximately 2.5 months, with his last day being June 10, 2026. We chose the program because of its structured toddler curriculum, which was important to us as our son was nearly two years old when he enrolled. Some challenges we encountered included the lack of classroom cameras for this age group and the policy prohibiting outside food, including non-allergen snacks. Because our son is a picky eater, this was difficult. Although we were initially told staff would work with him to encourage eating, we later learned children are not offered second servings. Throughout his enrollment, he ate very little at school and never adapted to the menu. One concern involved diaper care following a stomach illness that kept him home for nearly two weeks. When he returned back to school, his diaper rash had mostly healed, and we requested more frequent diaper checks. On one occasion, he was picked up with dried stool in his diaper. After we raised the issue, a front desk staff member apologized and said it would be shared with the director. The director never discussed the incident with us directly. Instead, the following week, our son was moved to a different classroom about a month earlier than expected. Two days after the move, an assistant teacher Tish informed my husband that our son had been "aggressive" because “he pinned another child to the wall” while attempting to take a toy and refuses to share toys. He has never “pinned another child, yes he refuses to share toys like most other toddlers. I wished so badly that there were cameras but again no cameras to make this claim credible. If truly he did that, that would have been his first time, a behaviour that we would have worked seriously to redirect. The following week, we noticed a significant change in our son's behavior during drop-off. Previously, he was excited to attend school and would run into the classroom. Instead, he began appearing reluctant and upset when arriving. On what became his last day, he was crying at pickup. We were told he had been taking snacks from other children and that he required substantially more redirection than his peers. The teacher described this behavior as "abnormal" and repeated that word when I asked for clarification. I should have asked her educational qualifications but I chose to stay silent, she had already misinterpreted my husband’s response to her feedback as “upset”, she was 1000% wrong about that. I later spoke with the director Elizabeth to express my concerns. She offered to speak with the teacher, but by that point we had already decided to withdraw our son. At no point did Elizabeth apologize or take accountability for her staff. Ultimately, our concerns centered on poor communication, our child's nutritional needs, and how age-appropriate toddler behaviors were interpreted and discussed. Labelling a black child who turned two years old as aggressive for behaviors that they apparently do not report until they age 2, is only a slight of reflection of all the incompetencies, from developmental to cultural, and false representation that this facility attempts to portray.

Good food quality! Teachers and staff who cares and it shows. A good curriculum for kids to learn and grow. Primrose is operated very well and organized. Hours are good and with a good range for parents to drop off and pick up. School is accommodating to 3 day schedule versus and 4 or 5 day schedule which we really appreciated. Highly recommend Primrose as we have been there for 3 years and a really cool perk was that the school have the kids a small graduation walk and ceremony which was so very cute and great celebration that parents and family will have always. Thank you for all that they do! That was above and beyond and a gift really.
