  I am outraged by how Challenger School handled an issue involving my daughter. I have been a Challenger parent for the past five years and have always paid my tuition obligations in full. In fact, I pay the entire school year upfront at the beginning of the year rather than making monthly payments. The matter did not involve unpaid tuition. It related to minimal incidental after-care drop-in charges, which are rare because I almost never leave my child in after-care. In January, Challenger’s EduTrak system provided an option to enroll in automatic payments. I elected automatic payments and saved my payment information in the system with the expectation that any eligible charges would be processed automatically. On April 17, Ms. Shurko asked me to come into the office so we could review my account settings. I showed her my phone and my EduTrak setup, and she confirmed that my account was properly configured for automatic payments. Based on that conversation, I had every reason to believe the account was set up correctly. One of the most frustrating aspects of this situation was the lack of support. There is no direct phone number available for EduTrak account assistance, leaving parents dependent on the school office for help. Throughout this process, I found the office staff to be unhelpful and dismissive rather than working toward a solution. What is completely unacceptable is how this was handled with a child. On the last day of school, my daughter was singled out in front of her classmates and denied her yearbook. According to my daughter, Shelli informed Mrs. Mitchell that her tuition had not been paid, and Mrs. Mitchell then announced in front of the class that she could not receive her yearbook or participate because her tuition had not been paid. This statement was false. My tuition was paid in full at the beginning of the school year. The issue involved incidental after-care charges, not unpaid tuition. Any concern regarding an account should have been addressed directly with me as the parent. Instead, a 9-year-old child was dragged into an adult billing dispute and publicly humiliated in front of her peers on the last day of school. This demonstrated a serious lack of judgment, poor communication, and a troubling disregard for the emotional well-being of a child. No student should ever be embarrassed, punished, or publicly singled out because of an unresolved administrative issue between a school and a parent. After five years with this school, I am deeply disappointed that this is how the situation was handled and how my daughter was treated. I expected far better from an institution entrusted with the care and education of children.

  Repeated time-outs and ongoing negative feedback appeared to affect the child’s confidence, emotional regulation, and overall relationship with school. Parents of especially sensitive children should carefully consider whether this type of environment is the right fit, as prolonged emotional STRESS during early childhood can have lasting effects on self-esteem and anxiety.

  We love Challenger. Our son started preschool here as soon as he turned 3, and it's been nothing but fantastic. No woke agenda, and they really live up to their name, challenging the kids. At the end of pre-school, he was already doing simple writing, addition and subtraction, and reading at a second grade level. He's now nearing the end of kindergarten and he's reading 4th grade books like they are nothing at all! Whenever we talk to anyone about Challenger, they are known to have a reputation for academic excellence. The only negative things I've ever heard is that kids who aren't really bright may find it too hard and... well... Challenging! (It's in the name, folks!) We also like that they integrate singing and music and art and performance into the curriculum, keeping it very well rounded. As a final cherry on the sundae, we love that Challenger teaches kids about *actual* American history. They know about the founding fathers, the constitution, the importance of competition and hard work... and they pledge allegiance to the flag and sing songs about America. Imagine that, a school that teaches kids to actually love their own country! Kudos to challenger. It's schools like this that are why we left California.

  Good place for preschool. For the difference in price between other facilities you get a lot more, worth the $ and great staff.
