  I was pleasantly surprised to learn that, as valuable as Lory's Place is for our community members following the loss of a loved one, it is equally vital a resource for those experiencing anticipatory grief. I highly encourage those caring for (along with those who care about) people with terminal illnesses to seek out the resources and professionals who can accompany you on your journeys. Lory's Place can provide guidance and resources on how to advocate for/support your loved one as they manage their diagnosis while helping those who will be left behind better understand their own feelings and grieving process. I am so grateful for this organization and the service it provides.

  After the loss of my son I knew I needed more support. Professionally I have referred many people to Lory's place, so when I needed them personally I was relieved to have this amazing place to go. Denise knew exactly what I needed. They not only gave me a place of peace and understanding to help with my grief, Mary brought warmth and care to my granddaughter as she is learning to navigate this life without her dad. I can't say enough good things about the staff at Lory's place. We are so fortunate to have this incredible place to help our community carry our heaviest losses.

  Lory’s Place was such a blessing to me after losing my husband to cancer. It was a safe place to express my grief without being afraid or judged by others. The staff is absolutely amazing and caring. Thank you Lory’s Place. ❤️

  Lory's Place has got to be one of the most valuable resources available to the St. Joseph/Benton Harbor area - and all the services are free. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff and the community Lory's Place brought me in some of my hardest days. Everyone should know about Lory's Place because they handle the one thing that we all have in common - losing a loved one. And they are experts at helping navigate people on a journey that seems impossible. I am so thankful to the staff for all the support, kindness and continued friendships I made from my time at Lory's Place. This truly is a special place and recommend anyone who is struggling with grief to take advantage of this resource, you will not regret it.

  After our 28-year-old son died unexpectedly, of what we later found out was unspecified cardiomyopathy, we were referred to Lory’s Place and made an appointment with Denise who was able to see us right away. After meeting Denise, we joined a grief support group that she leads. For us, Lory’s Place is a place where we could let our guard down and speak freely about our son with a group of people, who like us, are grieving. We have found it’s often easier to talk about our grief there than it has been in almost any other setting. Outside of the group we attend, we also like that they have a programming calendar they publish regularly where they offer events outside of our grief support group setting that may include a walking group, coffee and chat, game night, as well as other events. Our grief journey continues. Like many who are grieving, some days are more difficult than others. However, we are so glad that we were referred to Lory’s Place and we are thankful Lory’s Place is here to help us and others along our grief journey.
