In February 2025, when my daughter was six months old, she sustained a significant injury while attending the Pinellas KinderCare facility. She suffered a cut to her upper lip that required medical attention, and she experienced projectile vomiting following the incident. When we arrived to pick her up, the teacher informed us that she had “face‑planted” onto a toy. However, earlier that day we had received multiple photos of her playing near that same toy, and in those images she appeared to be several inches away—making the explanation inconsistent with the severity and location of her injury.
When we brought our concerns to the center director at the time, Terry McDonald, she initially stated that she was unaware the incident had occurred. However, her signature was already present on the incident report. Her reaction was dismissive and included inappropriate laughter, which made it clear that the situation was not being taken seriously. The injury itself was concerning enough that both a doctor and Child Protective Services became involved, as my daughter had cuts inside her mouth from the blunt force of her jaw snapping shut—despite the fact that she had no teeth at the time.
We later enrolled our daughter at the Largo KinderCare location, where the quality of care under Director Tehya Olsen has been excellent. However, we have made the decision to withdraw our daughter from this center as well, effective immediately, due to the announcement that Terry McDonald will be assuming the role of director on Monday, March 16, 2026. Based on our prior experience, we do not feel that our daughter’s safety can be assured under her leadership.
For any parent who values the safety and well‑being of their child, I strongly advise caution regarding this facility while Terry McDonald is serving as director.

Absolutely love this daycare, since the beginning they welcomed my daughter with open arms. They have tons of toys/activities they do with the children and you get texts throughout the day updating you with pictures and videos!
Overtime they have built a really good relationship with my daughter and she absolutely loves getting up in the morning to go to school and see the teachers/ everyone there. My daughter had never been to a daycare prior but they made the adjustment easy and comforting. The center director Teyha is on top of everything all the time and any time I would have a question/Concern it was addressed immediately and handled with care. I would recommend this location to anyone!

My son attended Largo Kindercare since he was just over one year old. We loved the daycare at the beginning when he was in toddler A classroom. He LOVED Ms. April and Ms. Kerri. He would reach for them at drop off with some meltdowns occasionally. He would get sick monthly, but that was expected in a daycare setting. I would specifically notice Ms. April wiping the kids noses and washing them up after being outside. Unfortunately, when he moved up to toddler B classroom he did not have the same experience. He cried at every drop off for 3.5 months straight. He was never comforted the way Ms. April would try. He was dirty on almost every pick up with dirty hands from the playground. He got sick weekly, with either a fever on the weekends, yellow discharge form the eyes, cough, or a runny nose. I ended up having him go down to 3 days a week because I had school work but didn't want him to go 5 days a week. Right when he turned 2 we were able to get him into a closer daycare that started at 2 years of age. I did bring up my concerns with cleanliness to the director but my concerns were politely dismissed. They have been doing construction on the playground since last year and unfortunately had the kids play in mulch. I completely understand that but it doesn't explain why his hands and face had to be dirty when Ms. April would wash him every time he came in from outside when he was in her classroom. It is so stressful finding a daycare for your child. I did love kindercare but towards the end with the switch of classroom, my husband and I were not happy. At our new day care, we got a 20 page handbook with all rules and regulations which we never received from kindercare. We were introduced to the teacher to know who exactly was working with your child. There were so many people in and out of the room, we never knew who was the teacher or who was an assistant. We would walk in to get our child and never be properly introduced unless we made the effort. At the new daycare, we will get written notice if 2 or more students have the same type of illness. We NEVER got a written notification. My son got hit hard with norovirus and I was 30+ weeks pregnant and got it too. We were only told verbally that many students had it about this after it was already too late. Again they can't prevent these type of viruses from going around, but communicating to the parents the risk as soon as 2 kids got it would have helped. When a student had been diagnosed with the flu they posted it on the door but not a note home. This often went unnoticed by my husband. I think an email or written notice is essential as communication is key. I just wanted to give my review to new parents looking for daycares. Unfortunately, we did not have many options for <2 near our home but if you do just be aware of what classroom you are going in. Like I said, we loved it at the beginning but not towards the end which was stressful because this was one of the most expensive daycares in the area. Hopefully, they see this review and can tell all their employees to introduce themselves to parents, even if they are just a helper in the room temporarily. Also sending notes home or emails about illnesses right when it hits, and construction updates on the playground. All of this would help the parents be on the same page.
