Frequently Asked Questions About Modern Samurai Academy of San Antonio
How long will it take my child to develop?
Each child's progress is unique. Our 2-hour learning model requires students to maintain engagement, answer questions correctly, and complete lessons. This approach ensures comprehensive development without gaps. We adapt to each child's individual level, allowing them to perform at their personal best.
How do I get started?
Upon approval of your application, your child will be scheduled for a MAP testing session. This assessment provides us with a baseline of your child's current abilities in reading, language, math, and science. Following the MAP test, the first week of school focuses primarily on martial arts training to establish the martial culture, after which academic instruction is gradually introduced.
What does a typical day look like?
A typical day begins with a group engagement activity, followed by a growth mindset session based on Carol Dweck's work. Students are then divided into academic performance levels. The day continues with four alternating intervals of martial arts and academic sessions. After lunch, there's a group martial arts training, followed by individual training based on martial arts levels. The day concludes with project work. This schedule allows students to complete academic, martial arts, and life skills training while still having time for other extracurricular activities.
