The worst experience I’ve ever had touring a daycare center. I was completely taken aback, disappointed, and honestly upset when I left my tour of this center this week (October 2025). Firstly, there are no cameras in any of the classrooms which was VERY apparent by the way the staff interact with the babies. Upon entering the infant classroom, I observed a teacher sitting in a rocking chair near the door feeding an infant a bottle. Another infant was crawling around on the floor close by, but I could also hear a cry coming from an area I couldn’t directly see because the crib was positioned behind a tall counter top, which means that the teacher also couldn’t see the area either because she was sitting near the door. Anything could have been happening to the child and it really shocked me that no one cared to at least fake as if they did care since I was actively touring the center. It was as if the teacher nor the tour guide could hear the persistent crying the way they both ignored the infant and engaged in conversation, and furthermore neither of them walked over to check on the child who they COULD NOT SEE. At that moment I knew I would not feel comfortable sending my infant to this center. Infants cry, they whine, and sometimes there is nothing wrong with them BUT ignoring them and being anywhere in the room where you cannot visibly see every child in your care made me feel extremely uneasy. I asked if I could take a walk around the room and I finally saw a very small baby laying in a crib crying. Even after I saw this, no one budged or even attempted to console the baby because they STILL stayed in the same positions that they were in and never moved.
To add insult to injury, the woman who led my tour picked up the child who was crawling around on the floor and kissed him on his cheek. I’m not sure why any staff would be showing affection to any of the children in that way, but I was mortified after seeing that. I do not know if she had any relation to the child or if she was just showing affection, but that was completely unprofessional and unsanitary. Even if she was related to the child, showing that sort of affection can lead to the other children feeling like there’s a favorite in the classroom or that others are being treated better than them based off of those types of interactions. Furthermore, it’s simply just not appropriate and a prime example of how illness spreads. NO CHILDREN SHOULD BE KISSED AT A CHILDCARE CENTER.
Lastly, the teacher in the infant class was not friendly and seemed to not want to interact much with me. I couldn’t imagine leaving my child with someone who barely wants to speak to me.
I would never be able to be at peace if I sent my baby this center.
