Is anyone else having issue with communication from advisors? I start next beginning of next month and no one has contacted me back, the classes I need are getting filled because nobody will communicate with me. It literally is to the point where I’m about to say screw it.

For fall 2025, they changed their LMS to BrightSpace. It's important to note that BrightSpace is run by Amazon Web Services, and it'll crap out every single time there's a test - to the point where the prof has to extend the test window. My professor was ok, but she was the only professor for the entire department. I honestly think she just allowed her classes to be like 97% run by BrightSpace and AI just to make her workload manageable! Hire another prof! I'm debating just dropping out because I didn't (and won't) pay for my entire education to be done via AI.

This school is absolutely a circus. I transferred here after getting my associates at Gateway(1mil times better) and decided i wanted a career change to DMS. I was set to apply for progression, but that all got halted(meaning I'd have to wait a whole year to apply) when I realized my ADVISOR(Vicki Groh) had made a mistake on my course plan. When brought up, the advisor blamed me at first then when I tried to show her where she messed up, I received no response from her. I took it to the chair for the discrepancy to be reviewed (with substantial evidence attached to the email) and not only was the DMS chair KELLY WEBSTER condescending, but didn't even bother to address the problem at hand. She told me I was "unprofessional" and "to do what you're told". As a paying customer essentially, the amount of unprofessionalism and dismissing of a student with a concern on how her staff made a mistake, is actually comical and shows there's an absolute lack of accountability at this school. It's giving catty drama older women department. I would never recommend this place to anyone who actually wants to accel in their education. No student support, unprofessional, and a reflection of the kind of education you will be receiving. Not to mention I had taken a class where the professor canceled class for the last 2 months of the semester.

I was here 2012-2014 for Power Systems engineering tech degree with renewable resources as part of it. The teachers are great, staff is great and it all went smooth but a few things. I had an adviser who was more on the feminist side and was not helpful. To the point I had a buddy who co-oped at a place and got my my co-op because she was trying to send me to some retail place selling lighting. Larry was great and helped massively though. I finished and was excited to transfer to U.C, or a like and found out real fast that nearly all schools near by did NOT accept most of not all the credits from Cincinnati State, neither advisor made me aware of this, I should have asked though too. Few things to take away from my review and experience. 1. My Program is no longer there and was not recognized anywhere I went. My AA is just a science tech degree. 2. Touch base with the school you want to go to after this and see what programs transition because college is a business, they only care when you as the right questions.
