My child's first year (maybe it was a bit less than a year) was very positive. He was in a small group with two teachers who were very passionate about their work and prepared activities to tie in well with the themes/curriculum. But at some point (a little over a year ago) they left, and shortly after the leadership at the center changed. It felt like a revolving door of staff and leaders, and any time we came in to the center it felt like chaos. We originally chose KinderCare because of their attention to health concerns during covid, quality curriculum, and communication about our child's activity; but the past year none of those elements were present. We often didn't even have any idea whether our child had napped or not, what he did during the day, or how he was doing in general. We held out longer than we should have: at first, we hoped that things would settle down and stabilize after a new director was hired, then once we realized they wouldn't we knew we'd likely be switching to a preschool within 6 months and didn't want to put our toddler through two difficult childcare transitions in one year. I felt like the tuition cost at KinderCare was disproportionate to the quality of care he received, and it was clear that the environment and/or compensation was not adequate to hire and retain staff long-term. By the end, there were only a few teachers that seemed to really love the children and care about their work there. Other parents (both from the same center and other district centers) have expressed similar frustrations/issues when we've talked. As such, I would not recommend this KinderCare to anyone until some serious changes/improvements happen.
