Mostly only people who had bad experiences with this office leave reviews, and sometimes, it’s not even the office’s fault.
The International Services Office helps students with obtaining and maintaining immigration status. The staffs are trained to help students according to laws and regulations established by the US government. In my opinion, people usually have terrible experiences when they are unhappy with not getting what they want, which what they want most of the time is unacceptable according to the immigration laws.
It is not the office’s mistake for having to enforce laws. You choose to be an F-1 student; you can’t do anything about the US government who set the immigration laws for you to come here to study. After all, you are the one who accepted to abide by the laws when you choose to apply for an F-1 VISA🙂 if you can’t get or do whatever you want here in the US, I suggest you not to apply for F-1 VISA just to complain about what you can’t do like working off campus without authorization. The office cannot give exceptions for people not to follow the laws because they are not the ones who set them.

This is by far the worst department at BYUI, which is crazy because you all deal with extremely sensitive stuff. Costumer service is extremely poor. Do a better job at hiring good students, please. I realize a lot of people working there are actually good employees, but it seems like every time I go there I get someone rude or that is hesitant to do the bare minimum to actually answer my questions.

Worst office on campus. Honestly guys, please start hiring people who actually understand what it is like to be an international student or at least people who read emails thoroughly. I am tired of getting mixed information from this office, of having to call multiple times to confirm things because everyone knows you cant trust the international office.
This office tires me. I appreciate all you do with our documentation but other than that, when it gets to knowing the system and giving us answers, none knows anything. NONE.
