PSA NEVER BRING A BABY HERE. I had the most disappointing and frankly bizarre experience attending a concert here. I drove in from out of state to attend the Ben Rector concert. My baby won’t take a bottle so she came along and we were admitted to the concert with no problem’s. Only once we were walking to our seat was I stopped by an Usher and told “she can’t be here” referring to my smiling, sweet baby girl. The only reason they could give me of why she was unwelcome was because “she wasn’t safe here.” What? She had headphones on for the sound and was calmly snuggling her mama. Literally made no sense.
From that point on it was as if the ushers were on a head hunt for us. It was so strange to feel such an anti family feeling on a campus owned by such a family centered church. A church whose Prophet literally just spoke on the importance of family and the value of children. Three of my children have never taken a bottle so I have brought my babies along to many MLB games, NBA games, movies, plays, and college games without any issue, EVER. This is a huge and beautiful facility with pictures of Jesus Christ everywhere, but I fear BYU-I missed the mark on this one. I have NEVER been somewhere that made me feel more marginalized simply because I was a mother with her baby. And ironically I was just trying to listen to an artist who often sings about his family. Truly a mind boggling experience.
