- SSStudentAug 7, 20251.0The teachers are great, but the people who run the school aren’t. They blatantly lied to all the students, saying they wouldn’t be doing construction during school hours. Every day for the last month I walk into a safety hazard. I bring models in, and they have to breathe in saw dust and paint fumes. Last week I walked into the break room and stepped on a nail that was sticking out of a piece of plywood. It’s not okay. I wouldn’t recommend this school to anyone.

This has given me the opportunity to truly follow my dreams of becoming a makeup artist. I have learned so much from my experience at this school and given so many opportunities to grow in my career. I can say I’m so confident in myself because that’s what they teach you to be with everything they provide.

They’re always willing to help you try out new things like how to do a Hydrojelly mask for the first time, how to properly do a microdermabrasion and oxygen facial, etc. Ms. Rachel is knowledgeable and will always teach you what you need to know for the exams and the real world! She’s always encouraging us to do things and experience all the things we’re interested and not interested in just to say you tried it! I wasn’t sure if I would like waxing, but I did enjoy being able to get over the fear and do it! Ms. Lilly is the face of GK Academy. She’s the most amazing, kindest, & helpful administrator they have! Literally the one and only. She gives the tours and sets you up for your classes and state exam! Ms. Martina is the cosmetology teacher and she is awesome too! She helps out the estie girls with the brow lamination and tinting! Hands down the queen of brows! She was always helpful despite my fears of dealing with the brows and even helps with the waxing part of it too! Ms. Tyra and Ms. Sasha are the manicurist teachers and always such kind souls! They’re always open to teaching you anything you may have curiosity in for nails. I would always recommend GK Academy. Your schooling is the experience that you make of it & all these ladies make it feel like a family who supports you and encourages you!

I have been coming for almost two years for my hair, facials, and nails and always get excellent treatment for a fraction of the price. The students are great and the management top notch. Great place and very friendly and accommodating staff.

This place is an absolute scam do NOT COME HERE.This school is absolutely terrible I did the cosmetology program here and it was a waist of 10 thousand dollars and 9 months. my kit was bad quality Ali express things and I paid 800$ for it. The schools products are cheap and gross they would buy bad smelling cheap shampoo and other products from Costco. They false advertise everything. From my second month to my last day I had no teacher I would sit in the room and do nothing all day. I didn’t learn anything here. The manager is super disrespectful and rude and racist. She would yell at me, talk bad about me to the other students and administrators and acted like a child. The manager is an Arminian Russian lady named Karine. she would give special treatment to the other 2 Russian students and wouldn’t make them take tests or do assignments it’s ridiculous. The school is dirty, has no structure and is just terrible I would not recommend you to come here go anywhere else. What a waist of money and time. I came in and left with the same amount of knowledge and not knowing anything. They are sketchy as hell and let a student pay to graduate early. I wouldn’t come here.
