The job isn’t done, but my experience so far has been mixed. I was disappointed with the sales process when they suggested exhausting a bathroom fan out of the vented soffit - I knew that was a bad practice but other customers might not question that suggestion from an expert. Furthermore, the sales rep was also unfamiliar with the (manufacturer-recommended) practice of using insulated (especially in an unconditioned attic space) straight ducting. He didn’t seem able to source the appropriate materials. The installers seemed much more familiar with best practices and Andrew is the reason this rating isn’t lower - he listened well, was very accommodating to my vision, and was prepared to come back to make sure I got insulated ducting connected by them (even though that wasn’t originally in the work order). However, I still have some questions about the installation strategy because 1: the fan doesn’t shut off when then switch is off and 2: the manufacturer’s instructions weren’t followed (installation bracket not used, seams not sealed, fan doesn’t sit flush against drywall, one screw almost seems cross-threaded). I hope to be able to edit this review with better news based on the results of the final steps (connecting ductwork) and when install is polished up and/or explained, and the switch/wiring is fixed.

Andrew was very helpful and informative when we were looking into replacing our furnace and AC. He did a great job explaining how the process would go, and made everything easy to understand. David and Sam did a great job with the installation of the heat pump and furnace. They worked efficiently and were able to answer all my questions at the end of the project. It's great having new, efficient equipment that I know I can rely on now!

They were super nice and professional, so I have no complaints about the service provided in that aspect. However, to make a long story short, I was charged $216 on top of my $69 furnace diagnostic fee to help the service technician clean out a bird nest we discovered in the furnace. This took all of 2 minutes after diagnosis the issue. It was a laughable experience until the additional charge on top of the diagnostic for 2 minutes worth of work. I get that some companies charge a minimum of 1 hour of labor, but I also applaud reasonability and didn't find it here. Not sure I will be calling Hurlburt again for my HVAC needs.

I called Hurlburt because my furnace was stuck in standby mode after turning on and not blowing hot air. I was told there was a $69 diagnostic fee. After the technician ran standard diagnostic tests and everything was normal, he took off the burner panel. We quickly discovered a bird had made a nest in the intake pipe and it had fallen down on the pipe to the furnace. After cleaning out the nest, which took a couple minutes he tested the furnace and it worked properly. I was charged $285 for 2 minutes worth of work. Be careful of this company. They have fancy iPads which tell the technicians how much a job should cost. Curious as to which button said $216 (extra on top of diagnosis) to clean out a bird nest? A decent company would expect a diagnostic fee have a laugh with the homeowner about this insanely weird furnace situation and be on their way.

Beware! I'm giving a 2 star instead of a 1 because I have had good service from them in the past. However, this time I called for a furnace cleaning and was told my heat exchanger was cracked in 5 places and they sent photos. I received a very inflated estimate without any itemization which made me call another heating company. That company came and determined my heat exchanger was not cracked at all, and the photos they sent were not even of a heat exchanger and probably not even from my furnace (when confronted they sent different photos)! The other company also determined that they never did the cleaning I was charged for either. Prior to calling the 2nd company I was told by 2 other heating companies in the area that Hurlburt is known for these fraudulent practices and frequently quote heat exchangers to be replaced when they are not needed. The other company also said that Hurlburt pays to have negative reviews removed, so don't be fooled by their 4.9% rating. Thank goodness I did my homework and saved myself over $1500! I will never do business with them again. Please be careful, not only do they have deceptive billing practices, they also are praying on people by quoting services that are unnecessary and then make statements about how you are putting your family at risk. They tout themselves as a family owned business but they are no longer as they were purchased in 2022.
