Electricians came to my house at the agreed upon time. I had a simple job for them that was kind of tricky, but they got it done. I'll hire them again if I need electrical work done.

They are very proffessional and clean. They installed a new gas line and Generac 17kw generator in a day and a half start to finish. It has came in handy multiple times since with no issues. They are easy to reach for service and are very thorough.

I called them to help with a circuit breaker that wouldn't reset. Although it wasn't an emergency, they sent someone that same day. Turns out the problem had fixed itself, but the guys gave me some great tips on what to look for and what to do if it happens again. Friendly, professional, and helpful are the words that come to mind when I think of Island Electric.

I have used Island Electric twice now both times I couldn't be happier with their crews and how well they do their work!! I've had Light fixtures installed ceiling fans and GFI outlets. I hired them again to wire my new Spa Running power threw my attic from my Panel in my bgarage to the back of my home and put in a breaker box and a 110 outlet! They also fixed several of my outside sockets! Everything they installed is as good as it gets!!~ There is no other company I will ever call but Island Electric! From Estimate to finished job, they are tops in my book!!!
Home generators are fueled by propane or natural gas.
How big of a generator do I need to power my home?
To power some of your home, a 10 KW would work. To power your full home, a 22-26 KW would be needed. Please contact us to decide what generator is best for your home and family's needs.
When should I replace my electrical panel?
Electrical panels do not need to be replaced as they age. Recalled panels should be replaced immediately. If you run out of circuits, you can replace your panel or add a sub-panel.
Why should I buy an automatic backup generator from Island Electric instead of a portable generator?
During a utility power outage, an automatic whole-house backup generator provides numerous advantages over a portable generator:
-With an automatic backup generator properly installed outside, your home is protected from deadly carbon monoxide poisoning that is a much greater risk with portable generators
-Running on the home’s natural gas or LP fuel supply, it is less expensive to run than gasoline and sources such as natural gas do not need to be refilled
-They start automatically within seconds of a power outage and eliminate the need to haul a portable generator outside or run extension cords throughout your home
They provide protection 24/7, whether you’re home or away, and they turn themselves off when utility power returns, so there is no need to monitor the unit during an outage
What is an automatic whole-house backup generator?
An automatic backup generator is a backup electrical system that operates whether you are home or away. Within seconds of an outage, it automatically supplies power directly to your home’s electrical circuit breaker box. After utility power returns, the generator shuts itself off and waits for the next outage. It operates on natural gas or liquid propane gas and sits outside just like a central air conditioning unit.
Why did my outlets stop working?
The top reason is what we call a stab lock plug. These plugs have a poor but legal design to quickly and cheaply wire outlets found in most track housing and older homes. The problem is, over time, the two thin pieces of sheet metal that hold the wire weaken from heat and start to cause a loose connection. Then, they will start to melt or, worse, catch fire.
The second reason is usually a GFCI outlet. When we find kitchen, bathroom, garage, or outside outlets not working, we start looking for the tripped GFCI outlet or, more commonly, a failed GFCI outlet after a storm or power surge.
Finally, you could have a tripped or bad breaker. We will identify the issue and come up with a solution.
Why do my lights dim or flicker?
First, you may have a bad LED bulb. The most inexpensive LED bulbs are prone to overheating and will start to flicker, dim, or flash. Second, you could have a bad connection from the power company up at the transformer before the meter. Finally, it could be a loose connection at the switch itself.
Why choose Island Electric over the competition?
We have the equipment, from excavators to man-lifts, and we do 99% of our jobs in-house. From trenching to setting power poles, we can do it all. More importantly, we answer the phone. We show up, and we charge what we quoted. Ultimately, we have a workforce of 10 electricians, eight fully stocked box trucks, two bucket trucks, and one work utility truck. This allows us to get the job done on time and budget.
What types of fuel power generators for home use?
Home generators are fueled by propane or natural gas.
How large a generator do I need to power my home fully?
To power your full home, a 22-26 KW generator is needed, while a 10 KW generator powers some of your home. Contact Island Electric to decide the best size for your needs.
When is it necessary to replace an electrical panel?
Electrical panels don't need replacement simply due to age. Replace immediately if your panel is recalled, or consider replacing or adding a sub-panel if you run out of circuits.
What advantages does an automatic backup generator from Island Electric offer over a portable generator?
An automatic backup generator starts automatically during power outages, runs on natural gas or propane which is cheaper and safer, eliminates the need to run extension cords, and prevents carbon monoxide risks associated with portable generators.
What is an automatic whole-house backup generator?
It is a system that automatically supplies power to your home's circuit breaker within seconds of an outage, operating on natural gas or propane and shuts off when power returns.
