Highly recommend Seaboard Construction for your home’s soffit, fascia & gutter repairs. Russ Polston and his exterior division team said what they would do, and then did everything we hired them to do, to our complete satisfaction! Their soffit, fascia and trim installers did an outstanding job of completing the very challenging high work on our 3 story 3,550 sq foot home. All of the high work was completed in a very detailed and safe manner. Our 25 year old home looks like new construction after their efforts. If you need your wooden house, high trim wrapped, this is the Company, and Billy and Tug are the installers you want! We are grateful to Russ, Robert, Billy, Tug, Marcello, Mario, Kordell, Dustin, Devin and Brandon for their hard work, done very well. Thank you all for your efforts.

When Russ came out, he gave us a very fair deal to have the repair done. They did great work and not only that when they could’ve took advantage of me, they did not. They let us know. We had already paid more than we wrote our check for so they had us write a new check for the right amount.

I’m very impressed with Seaboard Construction. My neighbor had them replace their entire roof and highly recommended Seaboard. I had them give me an estimate for the job and they finished it in one day! Very impressed with Russ and his crew including Ronney and the rest of his associates. I’m also having them come back and do some more work for me when the weather gets warmer.

Seaboard Construction did a great job at my house, even if it was just a small job! The workers worked hard even though the weather wasn’t very cooperative! I guess that’s expected during the winter! 🤷♀️🤣
There was only one weakness noted on this job, that was a lack of communication. It was hard to know if/when they would be coming.
I would recommend this company to do large or small jobs around your house!
Frequently Asked Questions About Seaboard Construction
How do I know if I need a roof repair or a replacement?
A professional roof inspection is the best way to determine if you need a repair or replacement. Your roofer should provide photos of any problem areas. Minor issues like missing shingles or small leaks can often be repaired. However, if your roof is nearing or past its expected lifespan, or if you're experiencing consistent leaks causing water stains in your attic or ceiling, replacement is likely necessary. Extensive shingle damage from weather or debris is another indicator for replacement. It's worth noting that 85% of U.S. roofing business involves replacing roofs on existing homes. For commercial or residential roof restoration in Chesapeake, VA, please contact Seaboard Construction.
What factors contribute to the cost of a roof replacement?
Several factors influence the cost of a roof replacement. The complexity of your roof's design and its slope are significant considerations. A roof with a low slope and simple design will generally cost less to replace than one with steep slopes and intricate features. Additionally, any substructure damage from leaks or impacts will increase the overall cost. If you're in need of residential or commercial roof repair in Chesapeake, VA, we encourage you to reach out to us at Seaboard Construction for an assessment.
What roofing materials can I choose from?
There are several roofing material options available. Architectural asphalt shingles are the most common choice. Many homeowners also opt for composite roofing materials that mimic the appearance of slate or shake. Another popular option is standing seam metal, which can be installed across the entire roof system or used as an accent material for design purposes. If you require residential or commercial metal roof repair in Chesapeake, VA, please don't hesitate to contact Seaboard Construction for assistance.
How do you know when it's time to replace your windows?
Several signs indicate it's time to replace your windows. These include noticeable drafts or temperature changes near closed windows, condensation between panes indicating a failed seal, difficulty in operating or locking windows due to warped frames or worn hardware, visible damage like rotting wood or cracked glass, increased energy bills from poor insulation, excess outside noise penetration, and outdated style affecting curb appeal. If you're experiencing any of these issues, window replacement could significantly improve your home's comfort, energy efficiency, and overall value.
How do you know when it's time to replace your siding?
Various indicators suggest it's time to replace your siding. Look for warping, buckling, or loose panels, which signal structural failure. Other signs include cracks, holes, or visible damage from weather or pests, as well as rotting or soft spots on wood siding. Persistent fading or peeling paint, even after repainting, often indicates the siding is no longer properly sealed. Interior signs like swelling or moisture damage, including bubbling paint or damaged drywall, can also point to failing siding. Increased energy bills, mold or mildew growth, and an outdated appearance are additional reasons to consider siding replacement.
How do you know when it's time to replace your trim and gutters?
For trim replacement, watch for signs such as rotting or crumbling wood, especially around windows, doors, and rooflines. Peeling paint, visible gaps, warping, or pest damage are also indicators. Regarding gutters, look out for sagging or separation from the house, frequent overflowing even after cleaning, cracks or rust spots, pooling water near the foundation, separated seams, and damage to fascia boards. If you notice any of these issues, replacing your trim or gutters can prevent costly water damage and enhance your home's protection and appearance.
How do you know when it's time to replace your fence?
Several signs indicate it's time to replace your fence. These include leaning or unstable sections, broken or missing boards, rotting wood (especially near the base), rusted or damaged hardware, frequent repairs, gaps between boards or rails that can't be easily fixed, pest damage, and an outdated appearance. If you're noticing multiple issues, a fence replacement can restore security, improve privacy, and enhance your property's overall aesthetic appeal.
What style of fence is best for my needs?
The ideal fence style depends on your specific requirements. For privacy, consider stockade, board-on-board, or horizontal privacy fences. Semi-privacy options include shadowbox or spaced board styles. For aesthetic appeal, picket fences or French Gothic designs work well in front yards. Large properties might benefit from split-rail or post-and-rail fences. For a modern look or high durability, consider mixed-material or slatted architectural designs. Your choice should align with your goals for privacy, security, aesthetics, and property definition.
How do you know when it's time to replace your driveway or sidewalk?
Replacement of your driveway or sidewalk is typically necessary when you observe large or spreading cracks (particularly those wider than about 1/4 inch), sections that are sinking or creating trip hazards, severe crumbling or potholes, or areas where water pools due to improper drainage. Additionally, if you find yourself repeatedly repairing the same issues, it may be more cost-effective to opt for a full replacement.
How do you know when it's time to replace your deck?
Several indicators suggest it's time to replace your deck. Structurally, watch for soft or rotting boards, unstable railings, deteriorating posts or beams, sagging sections, and failing hardware. Surface issues include severely warped or splintering boards, frequent repairs, finishes that no longer respond to treatment, and persistent mold or mildew. If you're experiencing multiple problems, a deck replacement can improve safety, extend longevity, and enhance your outdoor living space.
What type of deck is best for my needs?
The best deck material depends on your goals, maintenance level, budget, appearance, and how you plan to use the space. Here’s a simple guide to help homeowners choose the right fit:
• Pressure‑treated wood: Best for budget‑friendly builds and a traditional look, most affordable option, can be stained or painted, requires regular maintenance (sealing, staining)
• Cedar or redwood: Best for natural beauty with moderate maintenance, naturally resistant to rot and insects, rich and warm appearance, needs periodic sealing to maintain color
• Composite decking: Best for low maintenance and long‑lasting performance, resistant to rot/fading/insects, no staining or sealing required, higher upfront cost but lower lifetime maintenance
• PVC decking: Best for maximum durability and moisture resistance, excellent for coastal or high‑humidity environments, very low maintenance, premium price point
• Exotic hardwoods (ipe, tigerwood, etc.): Best for high‑end luxury outdoor spaces, extremely durable and long‑lasting, stunning natural appearance, requires specialized installation and maintenance
How do you know what a kitchen, bathroom, or overall remodel can do for the value of my home?
Remodeling projects can significantly increase your home’s value, but the impact depends on the condition of your current space, the quality of the upgrades, and what buyers in your area are looking for. Here are the key indicators that a remodel could boost your home’s value.
Signs a kitchen remodel will add value include:
• Outdated cabinets, countertops, or appliances that make the home feel older than it is
• Poor layout or limited storage, which buyers often see as a major drawback
• Worn flooring, damaged surfaces, or aging fixtures
• Inefficient lighting or lack of modern features like soft‑close drawers or upgraded hardware
• Energy‑inefficient appliances, which can increase utility costs
A modern, functional kitchen is one of the top features buyers look for, making it one of the highest‑ROI remodels.
Signs a bathroom remodel will add value include:
• Old tile, stained grout, or outdated finishes
• Leaks, moisture damage, or mold, which can scare buyers away
• Small or poorly designed layouts that don’t meet modern expectations
• A lack of storage or outdated vanities
• Old plumbing fixtures that waste water or don’t function properly
Bathrooms are another high‑impact area where even moderate upgrades can significantly improve resale value.
Signs an overall home remodel will add value include:
• Aged or worn interior finishes, such as old flooring, outdated paint colors, or damaged trim
• Inefficient or closed‑off layouts that don’t match today’s open‑concept preferences
• Poor lighting, outdated electrical, or old HVAC systems
• Spaces that no longer meet your needs, such as unused rooms or lack of functional living areas
• Homes that feel dated compared to others in the neighborhood
A whole‑home remodel can modernize your space, improve functionality, and make your home more competitive in the market.
Here's how remodeling adds value:
• Improves curb appeal and first impressions
• Increases energy efficiency, lowering utility costs
• Enhances functionality and comfort
• Makes the home more appealing to buyers, often leading to faster sales
• Boosts resale value, especially when upgrades match neighborhood standards
How do you know when it's time to replace your patio?
Patios wear down over time from weather, foot traffic, and settling soil. Here are the most common signs that replacement may be the best option:
• Cracked or shifting slabs that create uneven surfaces or tripping hazards
• Pooled water after rain, indicating improper slope or drainage failure
• Loose or crumbling concrete, often caused by freeze‑thaw cycles or age
• Widespread surface flaking or spalling
• Sunken areas where the base has deteriorated
• Outdated appearance that no longer matches your outdoor space
If multiple sections are failing, replacing the patio can restore safety, improve drainage, and enhance your outdoor living area
When is it time to replace a porch?
Your porch is exposed to constant weather and foot traffic, making it prone to structural wear. Signs it may be time for replacement include:
• Soft, rotting, or spongy boards on wood porches
• Loose or unstable railings, which can be a safety concern
• Sagging or uneven flooring, often caused by failing joists or supports
• Cracked or deteriorating concrete on slab porches
• Water damage or moisture intrusion around posts or columns
• Peeling paint or persistent mold, indicating deeper structural issues
A failing porch can quickly become unsafe, so replacement is often the most effective long‑term solution.
When is it time to upgrade or replace an outdoor kitchen?
Outdoor kitchens face constant exposure to the elements. Here are the most common signs that replacement or major upgrades may be needed:
• Rusting, corroded, or failing appliances
• Cracked countertops, especially in concrete or stone surfaces
• Loose or deteriorating masonry, such as failing block or brick bases
• Water damage, including leaks around sinks or plumbing
• Outdated layout or lack of functionality for modern cooking needs
• Worn or unsafe electrical components
Upgrading or replacing your outdoor kitchen can improve safety, functionality, and the overall enjoyment of your outdoor living space.
Will an interior renovation add value to my home?
Interior renovations can significantly increase comfort and resale value when the existing space is outdated or no longer functional. Signs a renovation may add value include:
• Aged or worn finishes, such as old flooring, outdated paint, or damaged trim
• Closed‑off or inefficient layouts that don’t match modern living preferences
• Poor lighting, outdated electrical, or insufficient outlets
• Rooms that no longer meet your needs, such as unused spaces or lack of storage
• Old fixtures, cabinetry, or appliances that make the home feel dated
• Homes that look older than others in the neighborhood
Renovating can modernize your home, improve functionality, and make it more appealing to future buyers.
