This philosophy has kept us growing since 1967. Our Residential Department specializes in home comfort systems. We service and install air conditioners, heat pumps, mini-splits, furnaces, boilers, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and air cleaners. We service all makes and models of heat pumps, air conditioners, furnaces, boilers, and indoor air quality equipment.Our Commercial Department specializes in commercial comfort systems and building automation systems. Our team of technicians service and install air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, chillers, VAV systems, cooling towers, duct systems, ventilation systems, economizers, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and air cleaners.Both our residential and commercial service departments offer a variety of preventive maintenance plans, from basic maintenance to full coverage including repair parts and labor. We also offer electrical and plumbing services, including wiring, upgrades, water heaters, backflow preventers, and medical gas piping.Our Energy Solutions Group is exploring all practical energy strategies that will make more and more sense for our clients as they seek clean, renewable, safe power that reduces our dependence on foreign oil. We provide home energy audit services and offer practical green solutions including solar, geothermal, and insulation services.

    My heat stopped working right as the weather was getting colder. James River Air was fabulous from the advising and quote we received from Arlo to the install work completed by Austin and Wilber, James River made me feel completely safe and comfortable with my decision the whole way. Arlo communicated with care and I always felt my home would be well take care. Austin and Wilber arrived promptly on the early end of the arrival window to accomodate for a morning meeting I had to attend. They worked efficiently, quietly, neatly, and with care. They completed my entire HVAC install in one day and explained everything to me about my new thermostat and all the work they did. They worked SO hard. I didn't see them take a break all day, plus they were kind and polite and nice to my cats :)

    I had such an easy, pleasant experience with this company. I detected a burning smell from my HVAC when I turned on the heat, called James River Air Conditioning at 7:30AM - Tracy [hope that name is right] was efficient, friendly, supportive. She scheduled the extremely knowledgeable tech Mark Corey to come out the same day. Mark is great, it was obvious from the jump he knew his stuff. He diagnosed the situation, organized for the part needed [which they did the heavy lifting of making sure it was still under warranty], went to go help other clients, meanwhile James River delivered the part, Mark came back and fixed the HVAC! I signed up for their really great plan for annual servicing too. It can be unnerving having new people come to your house to make repairs--you don't know what you will get. This was honestly the best experience I ever had. I am a client for life.

    Harris and Daniel were very respectful, professional, and thorough when servicing my heat pump and furnace. I asked them an abundance of questions about my system and about the Whole Home Membership plan; they were very patient and comprehensively addressed all of my questions/concerns. My system up and running and they did a great job!

    I have used James River hitting and air for years. They have done an amazing job with my ac units. I thought who better to call them for my dishwasher. I had a friend wait for someone all day at my house. They kept saying they would come and did not. We rescheduled for the next week and the representative said he could not come again after I personally waited all day. I got the company and they made him come to my house late last minute. The representative was rude, spoke to me in an unpleasant way. He came around and got the job done at least. After looking at the dishwasher, I asked about one of the gaskets. He said it did not look good and should be replaced. He acted like he was going to get a replacement part but I have never heard back from him. I have emailed him twice and nothing. I was very suprised and never want that plumber on my property again. I hope this amazing company is no going down hill.

    Technician was very thorough in doing his job. He checked our unit out very good cleaned everything make sure everything was in great running condition. Found a couple things wrong and even showed me everything that he found what readings should be on an ant meter, and gave me pricing to repair everything. He is also set me up with the sales person to come out and talk to me about maybe replacing my unit since it is 11 years old, but other than that technician did awesome job very pleasant very considerate and everything as far as what he did come in in the house wearing booties over shoes and boots so that way he didn’t mess up our floors we’ve been dealing with James River for 11 years now and they have been awesome anytime I call to schedule something they’ve been able to meet my needs as far as when I need them to come when it’s gonna be a good time and what I have going on at home. They’ve been very good about my request so I will continue to deal with James River, they stay around staying in business for a long time
