  This company rocks! We had some Major repairs to the cable system that required a redesign from the original system and area Access made sure to have it completed before my knee replacement surgery. It has been a godsend. I know they had to shuffle us into the schedule and we really appreciated that level of effort!

  We felt they took great care in helping us select the right system for our home. It took longer than expected, but it was a new design that was special to accommodate our 3 story home. Christopher and his team were always available to answer all our questions and concerns promptly. We look forward to years of continued excellant sevice from our lift.

  I have a neighbor who paid this company handsomely to install an elevator. The workmanship of their installation with respect to the lower floor door seemed shoddy/unprofessional. The outer hinged door was too big for the frame. The strike plate of the ball catch was designed to be mounted on the surface of the frame head - because there wasn't enough space between the top of the door and the frame above it to properly mount the catch mechanism, the installer did a quick sloppy mortise to mount the strike plate in recessed fashion. The ball catch protruded from the top of the door so much it had carved a deep groove in the door frame and made it difficult to close the door. The door was hung poorly and cockeyed, upper corner interfered with the jamb. The door had to be forcibly shoved closed. Often the forcible closing did not allow the safety interlock mechanism to function properly and the elevator became unusable. This is the state I found it in after several service calls to Area Access, and my neighbor was charged for each visit, and they never redid their sloppy carpentry. If this is exemplary of the workmanship of their installations, I would not recommend contracting with this company - I would seek out installers who know how to properly mortise hinges or catches or hang a door. FULL DISCLOSURE: I have a degree in Physics and have been doing carpentry including hanging doors, repairing electro-mechanical systems, a little bit professionally, mostly for myself and friends, for over 40 years.

  I had my elevator installed in May 2024 as a part of an addition to my house. Christopher Jarvis and his team were wonderful to work with, making a complex process smooth and easy. Ordering all the way through installation was flawless. The elevator's been a Godsend, allowing to move about my home with ease. This is the place to come if you're looking for an elevator in the Tidewater.

  These guys are the very best! Prompt, courteous service and they really stand behind their work. If something isn’t right with your home elevator they’ll do whatever it takes to get it going again. Their people are very straightforward and honest and the office staff, including the management team, are a pleasure to work with if you need service or have questions.
