- EGEver GomezJun 11, 20251.0★☆☆☆☆ – Extremely disappointed with United Rentals (especially the Chester, VA location) As a contractor with extensive experience in commercial projects, I’ve worked with several rental companies like Sunbelt and private suppliers. Without a doubt, United Rentals has been my worst experience to date. I rented a lift from April 28 to May 15, which should have been a partial-month rental. However, their billing policy is completely unfair: even if you use the equipment for only two weeks and three days, they still charge you for the full month. If you go even one extra day—two weeks and four days—they’ll charge you more than a full month’s rental. In my case, we paid over $4,000 for a lift that was not only overpriced but in poor condition and completely unreliable. The unit they delivered was old and broke down three times. When they finally agreed to replace it—due to their own negligence—they still charged us for the delivery of the replacement, as if the issue had been our fault. This wasn’t just poor service. In my opinion, it was a complete scam. I do not recommend United Rentals to anyone, and especially not their Chester, Virginia location. As a business owner I find myself not renting or dealing with this company/branch ever, and to make things worse I waited an hour to get my rental equipment unloaded. Also in this hour I asked to use the restroom and was denied by management, they told me “you can’t use my bathroom and I can’t allow you to go use the shops restroom”. I asked the shop mechanic and he was like yea go right ahead with no problem. Like I said I don’t recommend.
