- JDJon DiazJul 13, 20211.0I'm a plumber and run my own business. Ferguson has a good selection, but my biggest gripe has been that they price gouge at EVERY location I've been to. I'm pretty sure the counter sales guys get commission or something because that'd be the only reason why they price gouge every time. That's with establishing an account as well, you'd figure as a plumber they'd offer discounted rates. I'll give you an example of how they price gouge: Some time ago I was on a job and needed a 1" copper 90 (sweat, not propress). At the time, I worked for a large company who spends six figures every year with them so you'd imagine they'd get the best tier pricing. Anyway, that's all I needed that day. The guy at the counter said it'd be...$40+ lmao. I would usually just swipe the company card since it didn't make a difference for me but man...$40 for a $5 part. When I said something, he immediately "discounted" it to $20 lol which is still 4x the price of what you'd pay anywhere else. That's just ONE example of many. I've noticed a trait though. They'll charge somewhat reasonably for some items, and mark up (by a lot) a couple items, usually double the cost anywhere else.
